Consumers will still have the ability to trade games and lend them to friends. The exact details haven't been discussed yet, but they said they are shooting for a user-friendly system. Save your outrage until the full plans are released. And keep in mind Sony is coming up with some type of "system" as well.

I think they are trying to find a balance that will keep everyone happy. We'll see
I hope so. If this was Sony id be killing them too . They need to find a balance because I buy so many games I'd have never brought if it was cheap lol . I buy games like uncharted , mass effect , MLB the show ,killzone, resistance , borderlands at drop
i'm eager to see someone challenge this in court. we had legal protection to be able to resell our games but i still feel like they'll get away with this for the sole reason that the games on Xbox One are all digital and the disc is just used to install them instead of play them.

its a smart move on Microsoft's part even if it is anti-consumer. there are some marketplaces that only exist because the publishers and console makers can't profit off them. used games is one of them IMO.

This sums up Microsoft's attitude
King of New York- Now it's my turn - YouTube

you actually believe Microsoft is going to assist you in violating the EULA of their games and all publisher's games?

lending games is copyright infringement. if your friend wants to play the game they can either rent or buy from an authorized retailer or buy secondhand. you giving them a game and allowing them to play it with no compensation to anyone is copyright infringement. its no different than internet piracy sans the fact that you give them an authorized copy they didn't pay for instead of an unauthorized copy.
I get what your saying and it's smart from a business stand point but could also start the end of consoles. I'm sure some people will look and say why spend 800+ on a system ?! When I can get myself a tablet for cheaper or a desktop around that price ?? And without alot of those rules and stuff

You're assuming that Used XBOX1 Games Will Sell Regardless..

If PS4 Manages to Keep the structure of Used Games sales relatively the same as it is now, that will be a huge incentive for Gamers to Purchase a ps4 over and Xbox 1.. Im certain anything sony loses in "used" Games Profits, they will make up in the Amount of Systems and New Games they end up outselling the Xbox by... That should satisfy any Gaming company producing games for the PS4
I know . And Sony has to answer to stockholders they can't afford to just be out there losing money to please game publishers . Because honestly if ps4 is a big enough success out the gate the publishers can't do anything but back them
And how do you think EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc...will feel about not receiving any money from all those used PS4 games?
Nothing if ps4 is a big enough success . You think the Xbox used game market wil be huge ? I don't think this will help out game sales that much I think people will just be more frugal with their discretionary funds . Ill really think twice about buying a game that has so/so reviews or limited replay ability or horrible singles player mode .
Idk why all you arm chair revolutionist are upset , Sony's about to do the exact same thing. Used games of the past are no longer...console makers/ publishers want to profit. A person who buys nothing but used games is considered a total loss to Sony and Ms who makes nothing on consoles sold.
How do you know Sony will do the same exact thing ??? Sony unlike x1 has a base in Japan they can't just ignore by killing used games

You sure about that?

For a long time we have heard constant rumors of X1 blocking used games from kotaku, eurogamer, edge online, and vg leaks...And practically None about PS4 doing that same.

All you have is empty speculation and fukkboy ass rhetoric "if MS is doing it, you KNOW Sony is doing it, too"

You wanna ride with that X1 bullshyt that cool but don't drag PS4 into this just to make X1 policies seem less shytty.

The first link is speculation over a patent.

The second link is a speculation piece and says nothing about PS4 definitively blocking used games like X1

Try again fukkboy.

:heh: I was just meeting all your criteria for your Xbox hate.

Ongoing rumors? Check

Ambiguous answer to the question? Check

Microsoft has only confirmed that you will be able to sale/buy used games. How that system will work, we still don't know exactly.

Sony is not talking about it yet. If they didn't have some type of "plan" in the works they would just give a straight answer.

This is a publisher decision. Regardless of how either system pulls it off, publishers are gonna get that money

Speaking of copying, Microsoft is copying Sony for the remote control feature that lets you take over someone's game remotely. Microsoft is an unscrupulous company brehs.

Sony has a chance to essentially end MS's gaming division by simply not following suit. If one system is offering hoops to jump through and paywalls to navigate but the other isn't, it's clear who the consumer will gravitate to.

We'll see what actually happens. Sony has the mindshare and the PR machine on their side and has ever since their announcement. They can ride that wave to victory if they want to. It's pretty much their choice.

i'm pretty sure Microsoft isn't gonna look to license part of their online infrastructure on Xbox Live to Sony. even if Sony attempted to copy aspects of it it wouldn't be as smooth and elegant and as restrictive as the monopoly's version.

Sony played their hand right.

They showed just enough at their reveal to get the industry buzzing. They didn't disclose too much info for MS to be able to know which direction they were going in for the used game thing.

They have the upper hand in this chess match right now. It's completely on them if they fukk up though.
