would rather guys who are super passionate about it than some random guys. you just know random chinese or arabs are going to come in and change absolutely everything and treat it as their toy.

the mma ecosystem is fragile enough so that everything can crumble quickly, not to mention this will be the first generation after someone who really cared built things from the ground up. the trickiest part
They'd have to be incredibly stupid and colossal fukk ups to ruin the UFC. The fanbase is there and 4 billion is a hefty amount of money to spend if your sole intention is to use it as a toy. The people interested are more than likely knowledgeable about the sport or they wouldn't be in the market for it.

Smart move by the Fertittas and Dana. I'm guessing they fear headaches will arise in the future they don't want to have to deal with. They're cashing out while it's still hot.
That's exactly what it sounds like to me as well. People said boxing would die after all the stars in 80s, same things was said about Tyson, mayweather, etc.. While boxing doesn't have that "#1 SUPERSTAR" I think the sport is a relatively good space, it would be much better if the HW division came back with a force but it's been gone for a while.

Dana being brash and a ultimate salesman has said in the past boxing is dead, ufc will take over. While the sport is becoming more mainstream, it is still in a infant stage, maybe the powers to be feel they have topped out money wise. They damn sure aren't giving it to the fighters, they have a monopoly on the sport so it's not like boxing were guys can chase bigger checks and be their own boss in certain ways make the fights they want.

If al haymon/mayweather did buy the UFC but took more of a hands off approach than dana and became more transparent about the money fighters are getting then the brand will continue to grow, if not then America's attention span will go elsewhere and all of those guys from jon jones on down will be forgotten...

The bigger ufc gets the bigger the headaches are for the fertittas. And I know that lorenzo wants to go back to station full time, also station wants to get in on da mega resort casino money in Vegas and wld like 2 use this money as an investment.

Dana has been tellin many around him he wants 2 cut down on da traveling 1 due to health 2 cous his kids are gettin older and 3, the headaches are mounting. Dana doesn't wanna be like Goodell and other league commissioners hated on by every1 and always stuck Makin those bad decisions. He has many offers 2 start his own small local fight league also boxing is calling to be a huge promoter.

I wldnt be surprised if they cash out before the Fox deal is up and avoid da headaches of a new deal and etc.

Station casino just bought the Palms Hotel for 312M today, the shyt is all over the news out here. the stations is strong out here because it caters to the locals, adding the palms was a helluva move.

i was at a charity banquet this weekend and spotted lorenzo ferrtita. i was out in the hall on my phone checking the khan-canelo results and as he walked by i nodded my head and nodded back. I'm sitting there thinking, don't ufc got a big card in amsterdam tomorrow :lupe: so why the fuk aint he there? :lupe: at the same time dana been doing the same thing as well. all this shyt makes sense and lorenzo also said he wanted to own a football team as well in the future.

im curious if the ufc went under new ownership, would the reebok deal still be honored? will the check book be opened up for fighters?

also, the company aint worth no damn 3-4 billion? :camby:

mad flip
if the estimations of 4 billion are correct then it's a 2000x come up :ohlawd:

the rich STAY getting richer :damn:

Another thing to keep in mind is that if the existing investors (i.e. Fertittas, Dana White, etc) actually believe in the UFC's long-term prospects, they can monetize some of their equity and take some cash off the table but roll the remaining equity into the new structure and maintain the 5-7 year upside if a private equity firm is able to grow the business at the top-line and deleverage the capital structure.

Yes reebok deal would still be honored all deals and contracts signed by ufc are still official. The biggest changes that could happen wld be 1st, wld new ownership retain dana as president or wld dana even want 2 stay on as pres. 2 if the fertittas sold their ownership stake it doesn't mean that dana is selling his stake as well. 3. Say if a China or Japanese firm purchases the ufc will they move it back 2 Japan and be like pride 2.0 and doing more fights in Japan and very few abroad.

Also does the new arena in Vegas change things. Less fights at mgm grand arena and palms and maybe less profits or side deals because of the change. Who knows.

Right, a hedge fund is gonna come in and make the UFC better, cause that's what hedge funds do :laff: A better idea would be to take the UFC public if they really wanna cash out. But the UFC ain't worth 3-4 billion. Even 1 billion is generous, I'd say it's in the range of 250-500M tops. But some stupid Chinese guy is gonna pay 1 Billion for bragging rights because he can :yeshrug:

Dana claims it's all :duck:

As noted, Darren Rovell of ESPN reported this evening that the UFC was in "advanced talks" to sell the promotion. According to the report, at least four bidders have submitted offers to purchase the company, including WME/IMG, The Blackstone Group, China Media Capital and Dalian Wanda Group. It was noted that the winning bid will be in the $3.5 billion - $4 billion range, with the Chinese-based Dalian Wanda Group being in the lead. UFC President Dana White responded to the report, telling The Las Vegas Review Journal that the story is "overblown."

"The UFC is not for sale," White said. "The ESPN story is overblown. Darren Rovell is not a fan of facts. His facts could not be further off."

Darren Rovell's response:

UFC is not a good IPO story - not right now at least. Plus they'll get locked up so they won't get to monetize immediately.

Most sports / entertainment deals recently are getting done at 15x+ EBITDA so it makes sense for them to just sell because some dude will pay an outrageous multiple. If they actually believe in the story they can keep some equity on the back-end
