I don’t think they’re trying to put the decision of Europe walking away from the U.S, but the U.S walking away from Europe - which is what Trump is basically doing right now.

The more we trust Russian interest the more we’re at risk, much worse than China is honestly.

This whole move resulting in us now being against the Ukraine has increased our risk profile exponentially. We went from draining Russia/North Korean resources to now potentially supporting one of our biggest threats, who very well can be conspiring with China and North Korea against us. They don’t have to honor anything if we’re so willing to give it up.

Russia also doesn’t have to go all-in either, they can be taking both China and the U.S assistance here. They don’t have to choose one or the other. None of these countries really do. That’s actually what Israel does: sides with the U.S today, sides with Russia/China tomorrow. Nothing in the rulebook that says Russia can’t do that either, Super Power or not.

Point is doing what we’re doing now is dumb: Russia didn’t want to keep the Ukraine conflict going because they wouldn’t have been able to sustain it vs NATO. Now we gave them an easy out with us potentially walking away as a whole from allies. Historically that hasn’t worked in war.
