it was hypocritical, how you dash to run dmc's defense then dis the beastie boys
They dissed the Beasties because they wanted to work with the Beasties but the Beasties left their label, Def Jam. They came to support Run DMC because the head of Def Jam was Run's brother (and, they modeled the group after Run DMC)

Serch RIPPED this track......

Remember Arsenio had them on his show and they DISSED Vanilla Ice......:krs:

Rappers weren't politically correct back then..If you didn't like someone then you just said it..Chances are 3rd Bass could have made lots of money and probably had their biggest hit if they did a Cac Collab with Vanilla Ice..But they didn't respect what he did and just weren't having it..

You ask a rapper about Macklemore right now and he'll say "He makes good music and I respect his grind" just because they are hoping to get a shot at a bit of that sellout money with him...

just because 3rd Bass and Beasties didn't get along doesn't mean you can't like both. I got love for both but I do like 3rd better.
On another note, as a pre-teen/early teenager Pete Nice, Big Daddy Kane and Rakim were like my main 3 idols growing up. They had Hip Hop swag/aura that was unfukkwitable! I tried to dress, act and talk like them (pause).

I've noticed a lot of the older white B-Boys have been taking shots at the Beasties for being "down town" dudes...

Can some of you NY'ers from that era explain what that means? Because I think I know but I'm not sure...

They were downtown punk dudes who then got into Hip Hop after it migrated from the Bronx to downtown Manhattan. These outer borough guys like 3rd Bass they fancy themselves being Hip Hop from jumpstreet and more 'down' cause they lived in or close to the hood. Like Serch says he was doing Hip Hop shyt when it was just in the Bronx and Harlem.
