I don't think age has anything to do with ants struggles, he just has legit limitations as a player which he needs to work on. At 19 during shais rookie season you could see flashes of what he would be as a player with driving and shooting midrange jumpers. Shais limitations as a young player was more on consistency and getting to the line. He started learning how to get to the line during his injury seasons which propelled him to the player he is today.

It has nothing to do with age i agree....
Who's to say he ever gets better than he is now?
This might be his ceiling....and actually that's not a bad thing. . 10 plus years years of what he is now...is HOF level.
.... surrounded with a better cast...this is a championship team.

I don't understand what people are expecting

Ant is faster more explosive more athletic. Shai had better footwork more skilled. footwork can be taught. Athleticism cannot be. Ant can have a higher peak of he puts in the work and stays healthy. My only concern for Ant is his motor. seems he gets tired... then passive.

I'd say it's his IQ you gotta worry about

He's a smart player but he just doesn't process the game the way the elites do just yet.

He's young and has time but that's been his downfall during his playoff career so far.

LETS NOT FORGET
SHAI IS 26 AND ANT IS 23.

ANT IS BETTER AT 23
THAN SHAI WAS AT 23
AND ANT IS ALREADY IN HIS 2ND STRAIGHT WCF.

WE KNEW SHAI
WAS BETTER THAN ANT
BEFORE THIS SERIES STARTED.

HES THE MVP FOR A REASON

Yup.

Clyde was drafted the year before MJ and is older so this comparison doesn't work.

I think people often have this idea that players just make these large leaps over time when often that is not the case. What typically change is general iq/reading the floor with experience . Like how much better has luka gotta since his 2nd season? I'd say he's gotten better marginally just by reading the floor from experience but its not some transformational leap. Ant actually has a shyt ton of experience, he probably gets better on the margins like how Tatum has. Ant actually has more playoff experience then anyone on the thunder outside of maybe caruso

Ant decided to become a 3 point shooter this year after admiring the longevity of Steph's game. He made the most threes of any player in the NBA this year and shot it at 40%, his highest percentage of any season and on more attempts. He's definitely capable of adding to his game.

LUKA WAS A 32% 3P SHOOTER
HIS SECOND YEAR.
NOW HES A 38% 3P SHOOTER
WHICH MADE HIM UNSTOPPABLE
IN LAST YRS PLAYOFFS.

ANTS SCORING HAS INCREASED EVERY
SEASON HES BEEN IN THE NBA
AND NOW HES A 40% 3P SHOOTER.

HIS NEXT STEPS
ARE FINDING A BALANCE
BETWEEN THE 3P ATTEMPTS
AND ALSO GETTING TO THE LINE MORE.

HE'LL BE A 30+ PPG SCORER AT HIS PEAK.

Question. What matters most when determining a player’s prime? Their age or seasons played? People say a player doesn’t start their prime until around age 27. Tatum and Luka just made 27 and 26 a few months ago. They also just completed their 8th and 7th seasons. So are we saying they’re just about to hit in their prime going into year 9 and 8? Well Tatum will miss next season, so bad example with him, but you get the general idea.

Can’t have it both ways. A lot of people have been running with the narrative that Ant “took out” legends KD, Bron and Steph.

Now all of a sudden it’s he’s too young. :whoa:

Nah keep that same energy. Jokic had the Thunder on the brink of elimination with Aaron Gordon as his second best player.
