Yes. I'm reading a lot of paranoid comments on this site recently about "outsiders" trying to take people's spots. Sports is a true meritocracy in this country because American system is based on WINNING . In most situations, the coach or recruiter is going to take the best player.

On the other hand, I've heard from multiple South American and continental African people that nepotism comes into play in the sports systems in their home countries. They said this stifles their soccer programs and sports in general. There's a local comm. college in the area that's a feeder school to college soccer programs and SEVERAL of the student/athletes from there have talked about coaches being on that same bullshyt over here.

Above the fray.
i always felt that lacrosse could be the next sport to rise up, i really like the speed and contact but theres just no money in it right now.
The white kids who play are generally from money but they will take a free ride to school if they can. If the aim is to get access to college education via scholarships, lacrosse has the easiest path. No big money in the sports on professional level is what keeps the better athletes from focusing on it.

For the record, Jim Brown played lacrosse for fun/stay in shape at Syracuse. You already know....he is arguably the greatest lacrosse player ever from what I've read. GOAT in two sports...............Legend in two games like Pee Wee Kirkland

Height and talent will still be their ultimate hurdle after the skills aspect. They won't be able to out athlete the best black players.
fuhrer.sterns plan has been realised though

the rules changed & made skill the primary resource over raw athleticism/physicality

the slow flat-footed euros are eating they come from that euro pro system with years of professional skill development

the league is not that raw pre 00's hood shyte it's a product produced for a majority euro country

In the Silver Lining
I agree. Our kids would beast in that sport. The problem is that there’s not a lot of examples of AAs excelling in that sport that would influence kids to wanna play. And it’s not like it’s the most popular sport in America to begin with. Soccer desperately needs a mainstream AA superstar

The problem with soccer is that in it's current model is the small amount of points it generates. Like you might get one or two points for an entire game versus 5 to 8 times in typical football games. Instant gratification needs to be somewhat tangible and in higher doses.

I know MLS is huge all over and I guess enough people enjoy it, but....

I've said it before, make the goals wider so more points can get on the board.

Yeah, when you put it like that they definetly are trying to make it that way, but length still has an effect on the game of basketball. Timmy might be able to shuck and jive with the ball all day but get his shyt swatted when it counts.

Why not? We beast in everything else:heh:
You basing that on physical and athletic assets breh, football gives no fukk about running 40 yard dashes, how high you can jump or your height. Take a Lebron for example, breh is a outstanding athlete but would never make it as a pro footballer without the skills and he would need to hone them from pretty much the cradle, cant just start in your teens becuase you're 6'5+.

Time to just pivot away from sports and/or entertainment as being so integral to the community. The argument that somehow most of these families and people are using sports to get an education in case Plan A (going pro) fails is not a valid one in my opinion.

Div I collegiate athletics is a full time job and kids struggle academically because of it and sometimes do not graduate. Others are encouraged to take noncompetitive easy workloads ( i.e when people talk about these guys taking basketweaving major) just to keep up with the demand of big time college athletics despite the available tutors and resources that these players have.

You go to school playing college sports that demand a lot of you. You take on a bullshyt major which will not earn you a lot of money in the labor market and your chances of going pro are slim. A lost of those elite athletes know damn well education is not the primary goal they are trying to play ball and try to make a living off of it but there aren't people in their corner family included who are realistic with them.

This also ties in with this Americsn infatuation of reaching wealth through sports and entertainment at a young age. Most people who make tons of money in their fields "make it" in the their 40s 50s in terms of big time wealth but sports and entertainment distort that that's why these kids and families see it as the quickest and fastest way to be upwardly mobile.

But this involves more than just Div 1 schools and alot of atheletes do go on to have professional jobs or in better situations than they would be had they NOT gone to school.

I’m very confused. Not that it’s easy but why not put your focus and energy on the kids education?

Because alotta those kids are high energy and without a positive outlet to focus on to help burn that energy off they could become a distraction. I was like that, and so were alotta the dudes I knew.

Besides athletics helps alotta these young men focus on their academics in a way they might not otherwise simply because you have to pass in order to play.

Breh every sport takes a certain skill level. Tell me one sport that there’s a huge smith of us that we don’t dominate. Every sport takes a certain skill set to excel at the highest level. I guarantee is AA kids started playing the sport early they’d dominate
