Scoring at the 93 would have put them in the QF. Also, apparently, they were berated for not playing 100% the last minutes of the game against Poland as it's not the Japanese way not to give their all. So yeah, the reason they went 2 up is the same reason they lost 2-3, that's just how they play.

Japan blew it. Didn't take a short corner when they were gassed. Threw too many men forward and got burned for it.

They needed extra time, they needed to regroup and they needed that extra sub.

Brazil won't make the same mistakes. Belgium looked lost in defense at times.

MLS is ongoing, but if you want to see world class, the European leagues are starting soon.

If you have NBC Sports Network, I suggest the English Premier League. It's my favorite domestic league to watch, and actually, randomly flipping past a match and seeing it end on a crazy winner in the 97th minute is what got me all the way hooked to it. Plus the production values are excellent because they use the Sky Sports feeds.

For everyone saying that 'why Japan had everyone up, etc': Simple, they wanted to win the game. It was the last minute of regulation. They had their chance as the less talented team to win and took it. You play to win the game.

Belgium is faster, and it showed on the break. Plus, Belgium had the momentum. They didnt want the extra 30 minutes. They took their chance. Its the World Cup.
