First game of the tournament Lukaku was invisible and all credit go to Varane and Umtiti. Immense match from the backline.
Can't really give Varane and/or Umtiti too much credit tbh.

France sat back and had Matuidi, Kante and Pogba sat right in front of them. There was virtually no space.

Hard to criticise Lukaku, this wasn't a striker's game.

1 more and its a wrap. Using Giroud reminds me of the old England strategy of big man short man combo. Griezman cannot lead the line and that's the only reason Giroud was taken but he is taking a spot that could be used elsewhere. The man is a super sub at best

No idea how he makes it into this team..He's got no first touch and he's slower than a funeral. They should have taken Lacazette instead

Belgium looked like France 4 years ago. Went down a goal, no sense of urgency, complacent with possession, offense was predictable and in the end its another 1-0 loss at the world cup knockout round. I said it before and I'll say it again, Deschamps is lucky he has the talent of this squad. He continues to show nothing but his horrible teeth.

France just parked the bus. Nothing you can really do against that, especially with the defensive talent they have

To be honest time wasting and dives were not invented by Neymar, its just funny that the WC opens up a new audience to the game but i have seen everything from players trying to shake everyone's hands when subbed, rolling down socks slowly and then walk or an injured player rolling back into the field to waste time:mjlol: or the throw in where 1 player acts like he is going to take it and then the defender runs up to replace him.

Timing was good for him, man got more resources than anyone and the team has matured at the right time. He adjusted from 2016 were he fukked around with the midfield and Pogba but I think after trying the Dembele-Mbappe-Griezman line up and seeing it's flaws he made adjustments. In comparison to other coaches this WC that stuck with their teams
I agree he's often in the right place at the right time but man does have talent. Led a great Monaco team to a CL final, a good Marseille (with a Ligue 1 title and a cup I think), a good France (Euro + WC finals). Can't front on his leadership skills

Technically good game but not the most entertaining. It looked like an early season game of Tottenham vs. Liverpool and it makes sense because there were so many Premier League players on the pitch. I'm pretty sure the entire first 11 of Belgium are in the premier league or have played in the Premier League other than Wistel.

The best games are when teams from different regions play because you get the clash of styles. Not this glorified West Ham v. Brighton game. There wasn't even any emotion showed by Belgium players after they lost.

Hazard was dangerous first half. Hopefully we (Chelsea) can ransom him to Real Madrid and get like 150m euros for him and Courtois.

I think Croatia v. England will be a lot better.
Brazil-France wouldve been much, much better but yall were celebrating Neymar's downfall :francis:

Once again once Lukaku comes up against good opposition he does absouluty nothing, it's like Belgium played with 10 men for 90 mins
He's one of the most overrated footballers going.
His game intelligence is poor, first touch dreadful, hold up play not great
He's just a flat track bully who scores against the weaker teams

Mbappe, what a player, really hope he wins the ballon d'or this year and breaks up the monopoly of Ronaldo/Messi winning it every year
