I first heard it the week my Grandmother died and it was the first Jazz album I had ever listened to all the way through.
Since then I have expanded my collection to Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Maceo Parker, Herbie and of course Miles.

See the first post on page 1 in which a case is made for why Thelonious Monk was more hiphop than alot of these so-called rappers. Multiple exhibits are given to prove this point.
And no, I have never played an instrument before nor played Jazz in a band. I am not good with instruments, I know that of myself. BTW, why does that matter?
I have never been a rapper, yet I like listening to hiphop. I have never been a mobb-boss, yet I like watching the Godfather.
