Meanwhile a 36 year old Duncan with not much left is still effective with limited ability and speed

I hate when they get these dumb jocks who only thye sport they play a sports show to voice their dumb opinions about the other sports

I blame KG and Dirk for this shyt..

After KG came in the league all the big men wanted to play like guards. All the announcers would nut on themselves talkin bout how "he can step out and shoot and he's 7ft"..

That started it..

Yes and no. The game is too fast for bigs but not because of players speed but because of the rules being at a total perimeter player advantage. You only have five seconds in the paint to make a move. You have to get out the paint or else illegal defense. Everything is guard oriented rules wise.

While this doesn't effect the great bigs, this effects the average center. Hibbert would be a legit All Star in the 90's but today he is just a solid center.

These people are fukking morons, do they even think before they speak about the game?

Teams in the 80s played at much faster pace than today, and them dudes had no trouble keeping up.

The pace was faster but the game is much faster today. It's about quickness at all positions, the Maunte Bol's of the world wouldn't have played a minute in today's NBA. Yao Ming would been elite in the 90's. These rules are BS to bigs when it's a known fact they aren't nimble like guards via size along. I love Hakeem but he used to take 8 seconds on some of his post moves to develop. Even Shaq had to really be in position when the rules changed.

The 5 second rule has been around for 10+ years, and we're only a few years removed from Yao scoring 25ppg, Bynum scored 19ppg last year, and Dwight's bum ass has hit 23ppg.

That doesn't have much affect on big men who can just post, kick it out then re-post to reset the count. The issue isn't rules or speed of the game, it's coaching plain and simple.

Believe that if you want to. I used to say that as well then I broke down tape of the 80's, 90's, and today and realize the rules difference made this game completely different. You really can't play half of the centers from the 80's and 90's in today's NBA AT ALL. Of course you have the greats but those are greats. They aren't your average big in the 90's.

Manute wouldn't get a minute, yet Hasheem Thabeet is currently getting 12mpg :ld: Manute could hit the 3 breh, he'd be perfect for today :russ:

The rules have little to no affect on big men, Shaq, Hakeem, David, Patrick, Wilt and Moses would all give people 27-30ppg today. You're overstating the rules and underselling the lack of teaching taking place with big men.

Thabeet doesn't start breh, when I say a minute. I am talking about impactful minutes. It's more of a term of expression than an actuality. It would have effect on ALL bigs but they can adjust, they are extremely talented.

Breh most of these dudes knowledge of 80's hoops is playoff games with Detroit, LA, Cleveland, Chicago or Boston. They really have no clue what they are talking about. I was more impressed with the 60's but they only had like 8 teams and limited tape :yeshrug:
