There are no grounds for Yawnye West having any classic albums (or even good ones)

So I was browsing reddit the other day and I went to Ye's subreddit, which is notorious for his delirious stans who eat up anything he puts out. I noticed that there was an old thread where people were ranking his albums:

It's interesting to note that there wasn't an album that they universally had at the top, or at the bottom. This pretty much means that Kanye doesn't have a single album that's generally considered to be phenomenal.

Do you know what this means? If Ye's indecisive stans can't decide what's hot, what makes yall think a regular hip hop fan would acknowledge him having any classics?

We could apply this too for other rappers too. You don't need to be a delirious Nas stan to think that illmatic is his best album (and classic), same with Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle. Some other examples include: Liquid Swords, Midnight Marauders, iyrtitl, Ready To Die, All Eyez On Me, ATLiens, lla, Only Built 4 Cuban linx. You can ask anybody and they would know.

The fact that you couldn’t find a main front runner doesn’t mean much besides the fact that he has had different sounds to his albums every time and he had a lot of bandwagon fans jump on probably around the Yeezus time and the other big time would hve been 808s.

Most real hip hop heads would probably choose CD, LR or MBDTF. most bandwagon fans would prob pick Yeezus or maybe MBDTF. Most soft cock dweebs that are into the auto tune bullshyt and would drink the sweat from his nuts would choose 808s or maybe even TLOP because they’re the type to think everything new is the best.

I reckon if you went through and really counted all the votes MBDTF would win overall.

You tell me an artist who has claim to multiple classics where his fans ALWAYS go for one album. A lot of Nas fans are split between IWW and Illmatic. Jay fans generally go between BP, RD, and TBA. Ice Cube has 2 to choose from, if there is only one album that all your fans point to and ALL say is the best then your discography is probably lacking.

You're absolutely right. All great artists tend to have a single album or two that are generally considered phenomenal because they're going for something substantive and specific. That unique style and viewpoint yields a range of specific results over time, and the highest quality among them is obvious. Like you mentioned with Nas, Snoop, Drake, etc.

Kanye is from the school of 'throw shyt at the wall and see what sticks'. Essentially, he doesn't have a masterwork because the styles/viewpoints are all over the fukking place. It's the woat approach. So someone may think 808s is his best shyt, and then someone else will think Yeezus is dopest. Or of course you get the stanleys that think ALL of it is incredible

an artist having a clear best album, especially with most of the albums you listed being a debut album, is a sign of inconsistency and peaking early.
