There has not been a better third person shooter than Gears 1

Ultimate Edition solidifies it. The game looks, sounds, and plays amazing. They solved all the kinks and shortcomings in the original and balanced all the weapons. The game is a masterpiece of the genre, nothing has been able to touch it. Memorable characters, unique story, gripping gameplay. I'll be sad when the game eventually dies and people will eventually migrate to that gears 4 garbage.

What is it about Gears 1 specifically/mechanically that makes you think it's the best TPS?? because I'm sure it'll boil down to preference. I loved Gear 3 and felt it was amazing to play but I've since played a couple of TPS that imo are much better than Gears gameplay wise but that ultimately is my opinion.

Not a straight up shooter but I prefer Tomb Raider (2013). I won't argue it though, and Gears 1 did have excellent TPS combat and was amazing at the time.

Gears is definitely dope. My main complaint has always been the player movement though. It feels like old school tank controls.

Uncharted 2 there hasn't and I doubt will ever be anything better, the later iterations were all good but Uncharted 2 was perfection.

Yeah, I wanted to say it but I personally felt like UC2 was just better in all aspects including gameplay.
