Good bye Coli(2014-2020)
I've never been to Santiago before but met a handful of Cibaeñ@ ( Santiago is in the provience of Cibao where you find alot of pale skins) in Santo Domingo and in New York, very few gave me the :mjpls:but not all. But yeah they're tend the most :mjpls: among all the dominicans and their culture did influence the rest if the country mainly with merengue but i don't fully blame on them with the whole racist vibe in DR. The Spainards and their caste system during the colonials and Trujillo brainwashing the population. Also many medias outlet are owned and influenced by the europeans. There's isn't really anything we can do .... perhaps things will get better when the older generation who lived during the Trujillo era dies off but then again I'm sure they'll past down their views on the younger generations.

I don't know. All I know is that the majority of these racist Dominican nationalist are 90% of the time the well off pale skin types. Not only that but I read recently that the Black Dominicans/former slaves were more welcoming up the Haitians during the occupation and even THREATENED a rebellion if slavery was reinstalled. That why I say Dominican history is a bit complex. If not for Trujillo Dominican political history may have been much different.

And addressing the bolded. Nah, there is much you can do. How do you think AAs got where we are now? You guys have to call out your mainly pale skinned elite who dominate the economy, fan colorism and keep yall in poverty. The DR needs a non-White awakening and badly. The Dominican elite tries to pin all yall troubles on Haitians to distract yall from the REAL issues. The majority of Dominicans in poverty are the BLACKER ones. Like this.

I'd had many Dominican cats tell me the poor areas are mostly Black/brown. Again, you guys need a civil rights movement like AAs or at least a Black conscious movement like whats going on in Brasil. Heck DR already has strong African influenced culture even Bachata is an African word.

PS: I have some questions I wanna ask you in the PMs.

Why? I know you gon say tha cliched (we struggled in tha same hoods together). I know this thread ain't specially about tha n word but I'm gon take it there cuz i know alot of yall like to give Caribbean mestizos nikka passes off tha strength of tht statement. In my city there are white boys who grew up in tha hood and 'struggled with us' as well and I'd never let tht word come out they mouth without applying pressure and tht goes for any non black person. It's like David Banner said. Tha reason non blacks feel so emboldened to say it is because they don't feel tht black men will check them for doing so, and tha reason they have no moral problem saying it in tha first place is because they don't respect tha struggle tha black man has endured during his time in America.
Have you forgotten tht tha black man has spent more of his years in America in bondage then he has as a 'free' man. And we ain't even talking about sharecropping, black codes, jim crow laws, tha kkk, lynchings, tha Tuskegee experiment, getting dog walked in tha media i.e. minstrel shows, shyt mestizos ain't never had to deal with. Tha history of us and our struggle began long b4 hip hop began and it runs deeper than any hood in tha south bronx or uptown.

Nationalist of the DR comes all different shades. Most of the racist nationalist of the today grew up during the trujillo era or are 1st/2nd generation after his assasination. I myself am a nationalist, i want whats best for DR and want it to prosper. We barely own our shyt like we've did before, alot of the bizz are owned by the europeans.

All shades go thru proverty in DR, especially in Santo Domingo. My grandfather told me that the reason why therea so many poverty in the capital is because many of them and their ancestors migrated tot he capital from the other parts of DR to look for better life also the corruption within the government. There's poverty in the cibao region somewhere. Also many of the elitist or rich mofos are recent immigrants from spain, latin america and europe. If you go to downtown santo domingo you'll see what i'm talking about.

The racist nationalist and those that grew up during the Trujillo era are the ones that pinning us against the Haitians and blaming on them for all the misfortune thats happening to the countrt, sounds familiar right?

And as for the bolded part, it won't happened because DR is not like the U.S or Brasil. We are not facing any opressions compare to 4the U.S. We are colourstruck with some classism involved. There will not be any civil rights taken place in the DR by dominicans, but most likely by the haitians and haitians-dominicans in the country.

Funny thing about bachata was that it was banned during the Trujillo era cos it was vulgar, and it was considered for the lower class. Trujillo made merengue mainstream and made it the music of DR.

Shoot your question..

Many Dominican cats told me its mainly the darker skinned folks in poverty. idk. And didn't know most of the properties in DR were owned by foreigners. I know Russians own many properties but didnt know to that extent. Anyways good post.

first & foremost wanna to say respect to you for asking WHY? rather being the typical poster and going in

the reason I say they are our brothers and sisters it’s because outta all the different ethnic groups in the whole entire world their DNA is the closest to us (and I’m including all Latino countries in the Caribbean)

and as far as the other stuff from your post ; respectfully speaking -you are misinformed with the word/term “mestizo” it means Spaniard European and Indigenous Indians which is more a term use for Mexicans and people of Central America unlike Latinos from the Caribbean & South America which were the overwhelming majority of where the West African Slaves went to

and the N word - well back in da dayz... im talking bout the early 80’s it was just as many Ricans homies that were 5 percenters, black Israelites or anything regarding that whole pro black era

like real talk ..... we considered them lite skin nikkaz

I just looked up tha word mestizo and there's no distinction regarding central Americans and Caribbean Hispanics, it covers all Latin countries.

Let it be known tht i have no problem with Caribbean latinos saying nikka, as long as they actually black. I acknowledge tha afro latino community which is why i don't doubt some ricans being 5 percenters. I just feel like there's a false assumption tht every rican and Dominican has significant genetic relation to us just off tha strength of their nationality and tht just ain't true. It would be wise for nikkas to more throughly vet who they let call them nikkas, especially knowing how blatant tha anti black sentiment can get in they communities back home. I would hate to imagine how many times a pau gasol lookin muthafukka got a nikka pass just off tha strength of being boricua, and yet tht same muthafukka would get hot if a nikka like me called him a spic. Where's tha reciprocity in tht? It's a lopsided affair. If i or you wouldn't feel right with a racially questionable cat getting too comfortable, hood or not, why should tht change cuz they speak spanglish and eat plantains?

yes... the term mestizo doesn’t have a distinction between Central American Latinos versus Caribbean Latinos as I previously said the term is for Latins who have Spaniard/European and Indigenous/Indian DNA Which Mexicans, El Salvadorians, Guatemalans etc. people from that region are - they comprise of nearly no African bloodline in them they average roughly 2 - 4 % African DNA

while latinos from the Caribbean average 15 - 45 % African DNA

And again I believe you’re a bit confused on the differences between the Latinos for the simple fact you use Pau Gasol saying the N-word Pau is from Spain and is completely European which most likely means his DNA is overwhelmingly Iberian Peninsula - I mean really it’s like comparing apples to oranges are you really gonna compare a guy like Pau from Spain to Fat Joe a guy from da Bx with Puerto Rican roots using the N-word

So you don't think there are ricans/dominicans with majority Spanish dna, and tht every island Hispanic has significant African dna in them? I might be wrong on tha first part of tht question but I'm sorry, I'm just not buying tht. Thts that false assumption I'm talking about. Hell i wouldn't even be eager to claim those on tha low end of African dna percentages as black. If 20% of my dna was Rican would they be so eager to claim me and give me a spic pass?

of course most have a majority of Spanish DNA in them
i don't get your point - are u saying one has to have a certain percentage of African blood in them in order to say the word nikka ?

In places where there are a lot of them, they don't be on that "unity", they typically only associate with their own. But in communities where they have a smaller number and are more americanized, I notice they try to be on that "brown+black" unity. In other words, when they have enough of their own, they could give a f*** about us and look at us the same as others do.
Absolutely THIS!
I don't hate em, I just try not to associate with em:yeshrug:

Black and brown unity is silly because...

A. There is no "brown"

B. Latinos hate Latinos (call a puerto rican a Mexican or a Dominican and tell me how it goes)

C. Latin america and beyond have had no civil rights movements so its still the 1950's over there.

How you gonna unify with a divided people? The melanoid people of the Latino ethnicity are only loved out of convience. They created the music and the food and the culture so white and mestizo members recognize that they NEED them but dont like that fact that they need them.
