Where It’s Not Safe
Indeed.

Good point, however this would mostly be true for islander Hispanics mainly Dominicans and Puerto Ricans. I say this because Afro-Colombians and Afro-Venezuelans were never "integrated" and thus do have a strong identify of Blackness. Unless Dominicans they are a minority in their nation and so its rather easy for them to identify as Black. Was even saying this in another thread.

To me its necessary especially for the darker skinned ones.

I assumed Santo Domingo would have the most "Whites." But yea I notice the racist Dominican nationalist are usually from Santiago/Cibao. Its a pattern I've been noticing and which is why I try and have a objective view of Dominicans because like I said shyts complex. Most of the Dominicans I've seen spewing Eurocentric shyt on forums, trolling Haitians/Aframs online and trying to White wash the DR have been those pale White Dominicans and they are almost always from Cibao.:laff:

However, not all of them seem to be like that cuz I remember in my school there was this older Dominican lady and she was very pale from the more rural area and she was OD down for Black ppl and was NOT afraid to admit she had African ancestry. We had a good convo on Haiti and DR.:ehh:

But yea all in all whenever you see a racist nationalist Dominican trolling negros its usally the pale ones and they are almost always from Santiago/Cibao.

If its true that its mainly the DARKER skinned ones in poverty like here then yea there needs to be an awakening. Yea I understand its important to be nationalistic because if the majority of the population who is dark skinned and in poverty then how far will nationalism take you?

Yeah it's mainly the island ones....I don't have a theory on that...bc black Cubans aren't like that either....but I'm not sure there as integrated as us and they had their history w Castro so......

As far as nationalism? Never fall for it....it's ok to be proud of where your from but always be race first bc nations rise and fall everyday....ur skin is ur uniform.

It's like when cacs tell AA's to be "Americans first"/"I don't see color"....that's bullshyt cuz they don't even practice nationalism like that, just white supremacy......AA's didn't fall for it but a lot of us did...

Quick question: Do Dominicans know about the AA's that went to the DR and helped them get their independence in the Restoration War?

:jbhmm:

I'll go out on a limb and say NO

I didn't even know that until recently

Hispanics have avoided this thread because even they know there is no such thing as Black and Brown unity..

Only people pushing for that Black/ Brown coalition is insecure Black folks :mjlol:

Hispanics only like the hip hop and fukkery, beyond that they could give a fukk about uniting with Blacks:rudy:

I didn't avoid this thread I answered....and ur 100% right cuz there ain't even unity between "brown" people...I'm not Mexican or Cuban or whatever so what the fukk do I care about them, not like we all on the same page....and a lot of those "brown" people want nothing to do with black people either.

There's ur hard dose of truth.

i’ll only address 2 things from your post

1. the vetting.... you mentioned fat Joe which is kinda odd because I don’t think many people would deny him from having African bloodline in him, its exactly what Paul Mooney said you don’t judge a persons race by the color of their skin or the color of their eyes or the texture of their hair you judge them based off the way they are built as far as their body and their facial features. if you look at the overwhelming majority of Latinos from the Caribbean and we talking Puerto Rican people specifically they have the nose ; they have the lips ; they have the bone structure ; they have the body - the females are equipped with every attribute from the motherland

2. identifying oneself - I was born & raised in the Bronx so I definitely know what I’m talking about I’ve met thousands pon thousands of Latinos now I will say this when it comes to Dominicans some can be a bit flaky about identifying their race / ethnicity but when it comes to Puerto Ricans and I’ll put this on everything I know and everything I own.... i never ever ever heard one of them claim to be White, its either Boricua or Black
Most Boricua nikkas are cacs. Straight hair, thin lips, light eyes and all they just style themselves different than the average American cac. Look at JJ Barea for example. Ricans also seem to retain the most Taino genetics. Some Ricans are white skinned and have slight African features like Fat Joe who has a different facial structure and a pretty rounded nose. Then you got full on Afro-Puerto Ricans like Alpo and Carlos Delgado, and mixed blacks like LaLa. So it’s tricky. Also, the whole Carribbean is nationalistic/patriotic AF.

Dominicans on average are more black on average easily and have more people of predominant African ancestry than Puerto Ricans. That’s not to say that all them are black because some aren’t and some are too mixed to make a clear determination. Ricans on average are more woke they’ve been here longer but the Dominicans are really starting to wake up. The Negro Society for Historical Research was founded by an Afro-Rican and you got the history with the Young Lords and Black Panthers and the youth gangs of the 70’s and all that. The blackest Latinos in NYC are the Hondurans and Panamanians. NYC has a lot of Afro/Garifuna Hondurans while in LA they gets all the mestizo ones.

1. Have you ever heard fat joe explicitly claim to be black? He may have black in him but if he doesn't identify as black then it's irrelevant anyway.

2. As for Puerto Ricans well there you go. All tha ricans who use their nationality as as their identifier in place of their race are either not in a position genetically/phenotypically to claim blackness or they're ashamed/hesitant to claim tha race tht they are, and thts when you check them. They can't have it both ways. But if they identify as black then they're cool.

homie with all due respect

you have it completely wrong .... the term black is only used by us African-Americans, the term black outside of the US is almost never used so it’s hypocritical for you or anybody for that matter to critique Latinos for identifying themselves through their nationality or ethnicity and if you want the proof you can look no further than the motherland if you ask any person from Nigeria to identify themselves they’re gonna say they’re Nigerian if you ask any person from Somalia to identify themselves they’re gonna say their Somalian if you ask anybody from Kenya they gonna say they’re Kenyan - truth is everybody in the world excluding us identifies themselves either through their nation or ethnic group that come from, race is almost never brought up

again you just got it confused

you don’t determine a persons race by the color of their skin or texture of their hair it’s more about your body structure & facial features

and your comment about Honduras being the blackest Latins is quite shocking because for all I know they are comparable to Mexicans they have damn near no African bloodline in them basically cacs & natives

(Black)Panamanians are the few Latinos I trust.

However, Hispanics aren't monolithic. IMO Mexicans/Central Americans and American Cubans are the WOAT ones. Puerto Ricans can be wishy washy. Either VERY comfortable being around Blacks like Nuyuricans or very :mjpls: like Florida Ricans. South American Hispanics just stick to their own.
The funny thing is if you don’t mingle with them they’ll accuse you of having something against Latinos.

I don't agree with the bolded

If anything Latin America has more in common with black americans then other blacks in the diaspora because we both are mixed more then others, we have different terms for the mix of each other, and we lived under our oppressors. Them being a minority means nothing, its about who has the power. In the states Whites were a minority during slave times int he south, this is why they allowed more white immigrants when we got free from slavery, they needed more whites to undermine us

The main difference is the "one drop rule". Latin America didn't have that, so they were allowed to marry their way out. Either through skin tone, or just marrying white. Its still happening to this day. In the U.S., we didn't have that option, so we were forced to work with each other. Look at a lot of those who helped us in the past, its obvious they were mixed, but if this were latin America, those people would most likely integrate with white eventually. That rule actually helped us!
There’s a lot of those issues in Jamaica too. I was schooled on this by a student who stated that in Jamaica the mixed people live secluded (I think she called it uptown) and they look down on country people who are more visibly black. Also that Europeans and Chinese hold most of the wealth. Indians (not natives) are more willing to mingle but I don’t know how true that is. Sounds a lot to me like the issues of DR or even Cuba. The way people act you’d think it was only yella or mixed Dominicans but reality is different. I’ve seen beaucoup more dark skinned Dominicans than I have lighter ones.

Well they can't have it both ways. Can't use tha n word more than tha muthafukkas who it applies to then freeze up when it's time to identify as an n word.
Like paul mooney said everybody wanna be a nikka but nobody wanna be a nikka.

Mexicans in la most are racist

Mexicans in the bay area are cool some. But Mexicans can be haters and they have no alliance with any group.

Puerto Ricans are cool

The white Ricans some distance themselves from blackness but the mixed and black Ricans it seems embrace black more.

Domincans typically run from being black and more align them selves with white supremacists talking points.

Cubans most of them are racist too the ones in South Florida are heavy trump right wing supporters.

Salvadorians.

Some are cool and others are haters. They big in la but some is in nor Cal.

Only non blacks that seem to show respect to blacks at least in nor Cal is Samoan and Tongans.

But Ados blacks should look out for self regardless

If you’re black and you’re in a non-black neighborhood then you will suffer. It’s like that for all “races,” but it’s worse for black people because we don’t entertain being subservient, yet society has already put us in such a role.

Most Ricans are not black breh by any measure.

And yeah Hondurans. NYC is a big immigration hub for Garifunas/black Hondurans. Most of the Hondurans in hoods in Brooklyn and the Bronx are black. For example...

How can you say Hondurans are the Blackest Latinos while saying most Ricans aren't Black makes no sense.

While there are many Afro-Hondurans(met a chick who was) they compose of a tiny minority both demographically and genetically. Puerto Rico has a much bigger African genetic influence than Honduras ever will. By nationality Dominicans are the "Blackest" Hispanics.
