and it’s j cole, Kendrick, and drake

The biggest male rappers ain’t just talking about seine drugs or violence

So either WOMEN(because they push music the most) are ok with variety from Male rappers but not women, or the media only wants to push ho rap

And everyone is fine with this

People complained about "drug dealer" and "gangsta" rap in the same way. So basically, this is muchado about nothing. :stopitslime:

Female rappers of substance don't have the mainstream support or buys that the stripper rappers do. Simple as that.

In the male world, substance and talent sells. Not to say that Cardi, Nicki and Stallion don't have talent... but they sell more than those of substance. Blame the fans/target market.

It's funny that they rap about their p*ssy bc usually dudes don't listen to females rap. Look at city girls. They rap about their p*ssy all the time but women love that shyt. People like Nicki Minaj and Cardi b fans are probably 95% females.

No we won't blame the fans, the difference is those male rappers got cosigns from two legends who rapped about drugs and one who helped start gangsta rap. Then a major push from Interscope and Roc Nation. And once they got heard by fans and critics it was off to the races. So now ask yourself, why don't the Cardi's and Nickis of the world cosign these female rappers of substance whos names they like to throw out when the criticism comes? Why aren't major labels pushing a talented female artist of substance? In hiphop cosigns and hype have always been what pushed an artist momentum. I don't believe there are a bunch of talented female artist on the roster at these labels:comeon:. And finding good artist is supposed to be the job of the label, well at least it used to be. Now its all about getting views and streams,so essentially its easy to get views and streams on an attractive, half naked woman with a fat ass.

It absolves labels from actually having to use a marketing budget, half naked women twerking is an easy sell vs selling something by telling people its dope, unless its by way of cosign. These strippers are cheap promo and cost effective, and probably pay for their own hair and makeup. You are excusing the labels and other female rappers here by blaming fans. Don't let them fool you.

Exactly, what else is funny is that it seems like hiphop is the only genre that blames the fans when the sound, lyrics and content are trash and people get tired of it and complain. This shyt is just background music we as fans don't really care about at this point overall. So I guess you can blame fans for our indifference, but I would argue who's fault is that? You made us not care by not caring,so when the few who do care speak out you blame the ones who stopped caring. Not realizing the few who still care are actually telling you why the rest don't care if you would listen:mjlol:

But keep "getting to the bag" I hope mainstream wise that rap dies a quick painful death, never thought I'd say that. But the reset button needs to be hit on black music, hiphop will live again.

This is my main problem with people who criticize the state of popular music.

It's nothing more than a reflection of what the current target market wants.

oh really? Guess you never heard of the diamond trade of advertising campaigns. Educating the customer on a "need" they never had is a very common tactic that when done properly can shape public opinion.

"Keep the lie simple."

"Keep the lie small."

"Keep repeating it."

"Eventually they will believe it."

Problem is people confusing what they want to hear and what the marketing companies push to control what you think you like. You don't like cigarettes cause they good, you like them cause for over 75 years marketing companies have convince you of it.
