That’s typically how it happens in the black community. We like to think that everyone is a free thinker that makes objective decisions. The reality is that how we sway on decisions are typically influenced by people whom hold significant weight in our lives.
What do you think is going to happen when the Boule, Links, Alpha’s, and AKAs, whom collectively make up almost every black millionaire, college presidents, high ranking federal and state elected officials, ministers, business owners, doctors/lawyers/cpas, high school and elementary school principals, and every other position that has an iota of influence in the black community, what do you think is going to happen when they start putting weight behind a candidate? The rest of the black community typically falls in line.
People talking about they voted for Obama because of Michelle. Bullshyt. Most of us are robots. They voted for Obama because he got the unanimous seal of approval from all the black higher ups which directly correlated to their susceptibility of being open to him as a candidate. That’s how we have historically gotten on code. And there is a high chance, barring this ADOS movement, that this is how this upcoming election cycle will sway as well.
ADOS better be prepared because the black establishment machine is going to throw everything at it to discredit it because they have a lot at stake in Kamala.

ADOS has legitimate points. I think the best course of action is to hold Kamala accountable.
I get it. She is a professional line tower. She has perfected, like Obama, the art of not rocking the boat. She will, without accountability, be just like Obama.
I think ADOS need to get in her face and convince her to bulldoze through Black specific legislation, like Trump bulldozed through his own agenda, and then as a community we need to GUARANTEE that we will back and support her, like MAGA and the Republicans support Trump despite all of his shortcomings.
We need to offer a guarantee that we will overlook her indiscretions if we can be sure that she is going to push our agenda. And then we need to promise that we are going to protect her because these Rethugs are not going to go down without a fight (literally and figuratively). In other words, we need to play politics. Who cares about her current record if we can make her guarantee that she will get behind Black specific legislation that will rectify her record.
That’s how I would like for it to work. Otherwise, this election cycle is going to be very decisive for all of us.
She already said clearly that she wasn’t going to do anything specific for the African-American community so voting for her and expecting her to do our bidding is idiotic. On top of that she has a documented history of using the judicial system as a tool to attack the Black community in California while also defending crooked police so fukk her point blank. Her term will turn out like every other Dem term in the last 50 years...benign neglect. You even advocating for someone who said in plain English that they won't do shyt for African-Americans specifically makes you suspect. This bytch giggled about threatening parents in CA with jail time if their kids were truant...that bytch will get in office and be just like Trump to the African-American community if not worse...while advocating for everything else under the sun...tranny's, dikes, gays, immigrants, and etc.

Do you think establishment republicans were initially receptive to Trump especially in light of his record of financially supporting the Democratic machine? They weren’t and now McConnell and Graham has him doing their bidding.
I don’t care what she has said. She isn’t elected yet and the right amount of pressure can get her to do our bidding as well.
I’m not advocating for you to vote and then to hope. I’m advocating that we pressure her to commit and then with a guarantee in hand we vote and then keep the pressure on.

The Democrats have made it clear that they do not want to push our agenda...we have over 50 years of them not doing shyt for our vote. Putting this bed wench in office who has already made it clear that she will not support African-Americans and has actively attacked African-Americans is political suicide.

I generally agree with the points that you have made.
However, I think it’s too early in the game, especially as it relates to the current slate of candidates, to have jumped to point 2. It’s too early. I don’t care what Kamala has said at the early stages of her campaign. This is politics. Everything is negotiable. And with the right amount of pressure from influential people you can get someone to change their position. The question is, do we have the “right people” in high places communicating the ADOS message, and if we don’t, how do we get them? I currently don’t think we do. Carnell and Brown are not heavy hitters. No one knows them outside of the Coli and probably now a few journalist catching wind of the movement on social media and their strategy right now should be trying to appeal to black influencers who have the ability to communicate their message on Kamala’s level. Coates was good start. But it’s not enough.
I’m concerned with cohesiveness first and the ability to get all parties working together to get what they want. You have to work at it. And then you have to work at it some more. That is the reality of politics. If everything has been done to try to make that happen and it doesn’t, then we can proceed to the nuclear option of upending the Democratic Party. But we’re not even close to being at that stage yet. At least I don’t think so.
In these early stages, we still have time to make that appeal. However, you need the right people with the right amount of influence to carry the message because the current coterie of ADOS individuals ain’t it.
I’m not the biggest fan of Kamala, but I do know she’s on track to getting a big share of the black vote. My line of thinking is how can we work this with those that we know are going to support her regardless. And can we work this with those that we know who are going to have her ear in this campaign.
Yvette and Brown should be doing a marketing campaign around HBCUs especially the heavy hitters. They should also be targeting BGLOs at their conventions. Those are the people that have the platform to influence this issue in Kamala’s campaign. But they should just not stop there.

I think it’s tricky because the term AA has encountered a reappropriation of sort over time. The necessity of its creation stemmed from the question of BLACK AMERICAN identity and us grappling with our history of slavery and who we were beyond that ancestrally. It was a term directed at reclaiming our deeper roots beyond our existence in American Slavery, Jim Crow, Civil rights etc. During its popularisation in the late 80s that was its original etymological function.
However we aren’t a xenophobic/exclusivist people or culture so there’s a very Pan-Africanist acceptance of black immigrants who don’t come from that original lineage and by the time they are second generation Americans, one wouldn’t necessarily resist them blending into being “African Americans” as a whole. It becomes difficult tho because that term was originally used to describe our lineage and now it’s used in a much looser way and that presents unforeseen, rather interesting socio-political issues (like the one we’re having considering Kamala’s candidacy).
It also begs larger political questions like, if someone doesn’t come from that ADOS lineage, can they truly represent those interests effectively on a political stage? And even more interestingly, if not, then what do we do?
