I don't know how you can do that regularly. A standard 300 page book would take me at least 5 or 6 hours to get through, and I'm a pretty fast reader. Granted I only read non-fiction, and scholarly books are a lot harder to get through than fiction, but still it would probably take me 4 hours to read a 300 page novel.

You'd need a lot of spare time on your hands to read books in one go. Most of the time I read in patches, 20 or 30 pages here and there, take down notes and then use that material to construct my arguments. I often spend all day reading and writing, since research is my job, but I'd never get through a single book all at once. Once I get through those 20-30 pages I'd see ideas the author mentioned and other works they cited and go check up on those and repeat the process.

I read ( and comprehend) that fast. It only takes me longer if it's a foreign language.

In hs, they had some testing service come in and track how fast we were reading (fancy private school, tracking efficiency). All them little rich white kids got mad at me cuz i fukked up the curve. :lolbron:

When i was little, moms didn't believe me. Not like I'm a liar, but i was going through books kinda fast and barnes and noble wasn't cheap. So she quizzed me, just randomly opening the book and asking shyt like, 'What color was Nancy Drew's bf's car?' I passed and she was duly impressed. :ehh:

From age 3 all the way until I started college I would just read a book until I finished it.

Used to get in trouble in class for reading when I came in, getting told by the teacher to put the book away, and then putting it on the floor and reading it while it was down there.

I space things out a but more now, but I'll get through a 200 pg or less book in one sitting.

My NYC - NJ commute had me powering through books every few days (fukk the NY/NJ Port Authority :pacspit:)

I only did that once w/ the first harry potter book...back when I first started teaching...I would do “read alouds” w/ the kids and read popular books to em...a lot of them were interested in harry potter but unfortunately most of them weren’t reading on grade level when I took over the class...the morning before work while waiting for the iron to heat up I decided to read ch. 1...I didn’t get a chance to read it the nite before and didn’t wanna have to read it during planning...yo that shyt wrapped me in...ended up sitting there for 30 minutes reading the book...said fukk it and called in sick to work :mjlol: and pretty much sat there for the rest of the morning finishing that shyt...took me like 4-5 hours lol

Your mom wasn't taking you to the Manhattan or Brooklyn Library?

My parents realised that I was reading way faster than they could afford so the downtown (Cleveland) library was my go to place.
