A friend of mine who is very good at his job told me that he never, ever, does work preparing for interviews. In his opinion if they want you they want you. If they don't they don't and
there is nothing you can do to change that. Gringos get given the benefit of the doubt to a degree that brehs don't get. If you get the right interviewer and you know how to do you job you will be fine.
If you get the wrong one there is nothing (

and I mean
nothing) you can do to change their mind. As soon as they start with the ticks, unease, odd questions, etc it is a wrap and time to get to the choppa.
Thinking back to the jobs that you got in the past, I bet that in most cases the interviews were smooth, they were comfortable, they liked you, they didn't grill you excessively. And the ones you didn't get were the opposite.
I know a yt guy who knows next to nothing about technology but somehow manages to jump from job to job, from subject area to subject area. He is on linkedin now writing BS about devops. He does that because people are more likely to assume competence to learn or improve in areas that he is not familiar with and more likely to assume a good team fit personality wise. Meanwhile I know brehs that are 10 times more capable who do not benefit from the the same degree of trust.
I interviewed for my current position over the telephone. I know for a fact that I would not have been given the job if I had interviewed in person and I am now their star man. They smile and grin but I know what they
really think.
