These 2016-2017 NBA Players Are HIGHLY OFFENSIVE.....

The season is just over two months old and already there have been eight 50-point games so far (Harden had 53 a couple of days ago; Jimmie Butler had 52 last night).

That's the most 50-point games in league history, and we're not even at the halfway point yet.

Can we reasonably expect that number to double by the end of the year, especially since players usually heat up as the season progresses? What about the playoffs? You KNOW nikkas gon' start cookin by Spring...

Reasons for the spike in individual scoring this particular season? Are defenses just that bad, is scoring just getting easier? Or....are today's players just THAT much better scorers than the players of yesteryear(s)?

I know what you're getting at, but those two elements have been apart of the makeup for an individual's scoring for years, even when you throw in the "star treatment" aspect (i.e., they would get more calls, thus more chances to score, like by going to the line more frequently).

But why THIS year? Is it blind coincidence, or something more? Start of a new trend?

Just puttin it out there for discussion...

yeah but the league is shooting at a higher clip.. so when a player is hot.. they usually do like 60% on threes making like 8/13 which alone counts for 24 of the points..

then also usually get another 15+ points off free throws added to the 12 or so points from 2 points range...

but the three ball is USUALLY the biggest cut

Maybe it's the rule changes making it much harder to defend now.

Either that or the offensive side of the game has improved where as defence has stayed largely the same.
