The nice parts of Cape Town are definitely the most beautiful areas in the country, with the highest property values too. The grimey parts are *grimey* though.

Ain't nobody going to no damn DRC but people treat Africa like its some violent plague even though it has good areas I'm sure but then get mad when white and Asian people set up shop, vacation, or invest in the continent.

Its a continent, of course it has good areas, depending on the country. My issue is that people are trying to push this counter picture of many of the countries in Africa as some kind of middle-class haven, its a pathetic "look at my people, we're not savages," rhetoric, that is pandering.
Investing in the different industries of various countries is a fantastic idea, and can only help aid in speeding development (perhaps even a "green" development) for many of the countries still scarred by European colonialism. But to pretend shyt is sweet just to counter White people is silly.
And yeah, those recently wealthy Asian business people are getting it in in Black areas.

Don't be dissuaded, all countries have their bad parts. This crime is focused in favelas the same way it's focused in a handful of neighborhoods in the US. So unless you plan to chill in some random favela and start your own First Capital Command set you're fine.

Don't be dissuaded, all countries have their bad parts. This crime is focused in favelas the same way it's focused in a handful of neighborhoods in the US. So unless you plan to chill in some random favela and start your own First Capital Command set you're fine.

This list shouldn't stop anyone travelling, unless you've been explicitly by your Foreign Office/Minister to not go to a country that is.

So long as you're smart, don't act flash, don't get involved with drugs or be disrespectful to the locals, you're set.

I thought the same. Someone had mentioned Europe being 'safer' and it's like, Europe mined (and still mines) Africa, South and Central America for resources, sent their government, economies, and political infrastructure into shambles, then left the people of color in those countries/continents/cities to murder each other over limited resources.
