I believe the companies pay the city to allow them to drop their fleet of scooters on the city
The scooters all have GPS and only can be unlocked when you scan the QR code via an app on your phone
You open an account though the app and link a credit card
The app shows you a map of available scooters in your area
Once you find one you scan the QR code on the scooter
The app unlocks the scooter via satellite and starts to charge you based on how long you use the scooter
I think its ~$1 per 15 minutes for most of them
once you are done, you end your ride via the app and the scooter is locked
You can actually make money charging these scooters if you have a big enough place to store them overnight:ehh:

I wonder how much these scooter companies have to pay back in terms of damage and Repair, shyt must be sky high since a lot of these scooters get damaged or stolen.

Ive seen these downtown charlotte and a couple of other southeastern cities. I can see the point for people in the daytime living/working in city centers.

Problem is nightime once all these drunk mofos coming out of sports events and concerts decide to jump on one and start crashing into shyt. Worst i seen was this older drunk white guy who collided with a trashcan and fell face first into the garbage spilling out. Probably broke his nose from the amount of blood i seen.

Sadly its gonna take some bad injuries and fatalities til cities realize these shouldnt be for everybody

People don’t realize how handy they are until they need one lol. I’m a walker so they definitely come in handy if I need one to get back to my car quicker or something. I think you know Charlotte so I’ll put it like this... I have no problem parking my car in the Target or Trader Joe’s Parking lot on the metropolitan area(free parking) and walking to Bearden Park. I did that shyt before the scooters and had to walk too and from.. I now will either choose the scooter or walk back. I’m cheap AF and would rather walk far than pay ridiculous amounts of money to park close.. Of course I’ll pay the parking if it’s cheaper.
Damn that's a long walk, I thought I was cheap af lol

That attitude is why this country has over 30 thousand people dying every year in car accidents. A scooter means only they die so i guess its ok

Everywhere...You never there.
I don't live in San Francisco but dammit if these things aren't causing issues in which ever city they pop up in. They came out of nowhere. People are leaving them in places they aren't suppose to be left. I almost hit one backing out of my parking space this morning. People are riding down the sidewalk three abreast making it hard for people who jog :pachaha:. People knowing they too damn heavy for them shyts anyway getting stuck on hills and inclines or just causing the scooter to give out:picard:. People stealing them. Kids fighting with them. It's getting really out of hand. They are annoying as fukk and they need to be destroyed :damn:

I fux with em ... was scootin all through DT Raleigh the last time I was there :heh:

Lmao! See you are part of the problem

Lol ...Nah man ... that alternative transportation is needed . Just gotta find a better way to dock them .

Still wondering how the homeless dudes are unlocking them and riding through the city :patrice:

@CashmereThoughts i don’t think y’all would be able the handle the sheer amount of scooters just lying around on the ground . It’d probably literally end up being mounds of scooters all over NYC from people just dropping them on the ground after they reach their destinations.
