This is not always an option if you are black or another minority. Also where I live an hour outside the city the prices are up 40k plus. Not to mention their new builds are at a historic high and the can’t guarantee the property will appraise because the homes are now costing 40-80k more than they did a few months ago. No one is negotiating if the property doesn’t appraise, they are just going with back up offers. Me and my husband feel lost because moving further out would so solve our issue of finding homes/building a new home but we got kids and I’m not willing to move to trump country just to get a house.

No I get there was a similar surge happening in the 90's when I moved to my first home, had to settle for something farther out from where I worked and it's probably more complicated now because you would think with COVID and the unemployment that home prices would stay flat or go down some and the opposite happens.

They want you to move to Alabama for a decent house. Sounds good to them, until that cross burning on your back yard starts happening :usure:

I never said you were ignorant. I literally answered your question. From a developer point of view they are going to keep building pricey homes and rentals as long as they have the tenants to do so. DC in particular is a city where attracting high earners is easy.

DC is another high cost of living city that needs to have the government intervene about the housing crisis. Developers aren’t going to do anything for regular people. It’s not in their interest.
Except what I said was a statement not a question. Again, I’m not sure what your point is besides maybe explaining this to people who aren’t aware that come across this thread. Either way you can do that without responding to me. I agree That the government has to intervene.

I’d rather pay higher rent & live right in the middle of everything in an extremely nice area than to pay less and live far out where I always have to travel to nice areas :hubie:

But in a pandemic, entertainment is shut down. No Broadway shows, no concerts, no movie theaters, no clubs, half of small businesses shut down. Its why a lot of major cities, all the wealthy people moved out of condos and apartments, and moved back to the burst where they have space and Work From Home.

This nikka crying over 1200 :mjlol:

My last apartment right outside DC was $1600/mo before utilities. One bedroom, Hardwood and stainless with a balcony 10 mins from DC. And that was Riverside in Alexandria, in the mid-tier as far as how nice the apartment community/amenities were.

Before that I was in a 3 BR in Herndon in a luxury apt for $2700/mo

nikkas down south still don't realize how relatively cheap y'all got it compared to larger, coastal metros.

Mostly in shiity areas. There are some in nicer neighborhoods too, but alot of people aren't handy and they not trying to remodel a home to live in.
But those shifty areas become the gentrified, white neighborhoods by pushing the older blacks out because it’s rundown.

The amount of jobs and money that would be made by the government fixing them would definitely be cheaper than giving it to a property manager or investment firms.

We as a society have just complacent with letting business class dictate the terms of capitalism.

That’s the wave breh. Any idea why Miami so expensive? Broward gettin up there to. Btw if you don’t mind what’s your take on this : https://www.thecoli.com/threads/can...e-10-12-years-ago-pls-brehs-brehettes.843384/

And congratulations btw bro.
My main take is a lot of area are getting gentrified. Yeah broward getting up there as well. The only places you can really buy big houses for still low is moving way down south like heading towards Florida city, homestead etc. but that’s too far for me IMO.
I’ll check the thread out

+1

High demand, they building townhouses in Pembroke Pines starting at 568k:picard:

so they gotta attract the people to come here so expect tons of stuff to go on with police in these areas, money and they getting the poor folks out. Broward is big business, alot of run down areas here and people with money don't want to come.

South Florida is such a hot spot I'm leaving after school, I don't think I can keep up nor would I want too if I had the funds to do so, if I'm not pulling in at least 125k I'll go somewhere else.
