PJ's role in that series was to guard KD. Nobody is going to stop an all time great scorer, but make him earn points and expend energy.

Strong player with low center of gravity, lateral quickness and good defensive instincts is going to give you a halfway decent shot of that, and keep your star player out of foul trouble. (and remain in position to rebound the ball)

That airball 3 by KD was because of the minutes he played and the defenders they threw on him.

Right, like we've seen this blueprint to stop KD literally since 2011 with Tony Allen. Guys like him, Chris Paul, and PJ Tucker have historically been the type of defenders to give him trouble.
