So Cal
Maybe it was better this way, the shyt players allowed for us to be in a position to draft, Cooper, Mack, and Carr who I think in a few years will be talked about as top 3 for their positions.
It was the perfect storm. :blessed:
yeah, I'm still salty about mcclain though. i feel a real head coach could have handled that better. breh went to Dallas and balled.

McClain needed to get his head straight. I don't put that on our coaching. If you remember dude went to the Ravens after Oakland and couldn't even make the team.

Source: Aldon Smith’s Deal Doesn’t Prohibit The Franchise Tag in 2016
by RaidersBeat.com • September 13, 2015 • 0 Comments

On Friday, the Raiders signed former 49ers’ outside linebacker, Aldon Smith, to a one-year contract worth up to $8 million. Because of Smith’s legal issues, the deal is largely contingent on roster bonuses ($250,000 per game) and incentives.

While the Raiders would love to pay Smith the full $8 million (that would mean 16 games, 10+ sacks), the most important detail of his deal could be what isn’t included. According to a source familiar with the deal, there is no provision in Smith’s contract prohibiting the Raiders from using the franchise tag on him after the season – an option the Cowboys weren’t given in Greg Hardy’s one-year deal.

Report: Raiders Would Like To Sign Aldon Smith “Long Term”
by RaidersBeat.com • October 28, 2015 • 0 Comments

Raiders’ general manager, Reggie McKenzie, gambled on Aldon Smith just days before the season opener and if his comments today were any indication, he could be doing it again soon. According to the San Francisco Chronicle‘s Vic Tafur, the Raiders hope to sign Smith long term.

SmSmith turned 26 in September and has been a solid bookend to Khalil Mack on an improving Raiders’ defense. McKenzie added that Smith’s relatively low sack total (1.5) isn’t concerning and said he’s confident “the explosive plays are going come.”ith signed a one-year deal with the Raiders (worth up to $8 million) in September and will be a free agent after the season. While he could seek a long-term deal outside of Oakland, Smith seems happy with the Raiders and there is no provision in his contract prohibiting the Raiders from using the franchise tag. According to NFL cap expert, Joel Corry, placing the franchise tag on Smith after the season would cost the Raiders approximately $14 million.
