Los Angeles County, California…
Former Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders defensive end Anthony Smith was convicted on the murder of three men by a Southern California jury on Thursday.

Smith, 48, was charged with killing four men from 1999 to 2008, according to ABC7.com. Jurors had reached a verdict last Friday, but it had been sealed until Thursday because of scheduling conflicts, per Reuters' Olga Grigoryants. Smith was convicted on three of the murder counts, and the fourth was thrown out on a mistrial.

The former defensive end was initially arrested in 2011 and eventually charged in the deaths of Kevin Nettles, Ricky Nettles, Dennis Henderson and Maurilio Ponce. Kevin Nettles, Ricky Nettles and Henderson were all tortured before they were killed.

City News Service (via the Los Angeles Daily News) provided details from the case: "The Nettles brothers were found with their heads wrapped in duct tape and Ricky Nettles’ stomach had been branded with a burn in the shape of a clothing iron, according to testimony during Smith’s preliminary hearing."

A 1990 first-round pick of the Raiders, Smith played for the franchise until 1997. He accumulated 57.5 sacks in 98 career games. Before becoming a pro, Smith starred at the University of Arizona.

Prosecutors already determined in November 2014 that Smith will not receive the death penalty. He will likely be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Steelers coming off a tough loss to Cincy concerns me. Tomlin schemes well, if it's a low scoring game we have a chance. Don't want to get into a shootout with them.

I also can't forget the bears game, so I'm with my nation vets. But, if we win this? Many old curmudgeons like myself will truly begin to believe

Yeah I'm hoping we do win, but this team is really gonna have to show that they've turned a corner and can sustain the good play. Too many letdowns to count with this franchise over the years, I'm really encouraged though but I just don't know yet.

I know it's a early game for us but we're 2-1 on the Road this year. We Need to push the offense downfield and we will. Steelers ain't the same without bell. This will be a tough game but the Raiders should pull it off..

I know we're riding a high right now, but lets not act shocked if we lose this game. This team has made some great strides but I think we all know that this ain't the finished product. Big Ben is back and the Steelers need this game just as much as we do. If we win, then we might have something cookin brehs. :hmmjb:
