Conz quick take - i don't like trading for even the best relievers or catchers (yeah, Piazza, i know) and i don't want Cano. I don't like it, but I'm not judging the move until more moves are made. I feel like in the end we're gonna make 27 "creative" moves to improve by like 4 games when the entire time we could have just signed a couple FA's without trading anyone of value and been in the same place. Always about money. Still pathetic that baseball allows this... and pathetic that we only got $20 mil back, i don't GAF about Bruce and Swarzak. I woulda just let Swarzak stay and prove he was worth signing.

I'm not all that mad at the trade but I'm not exactly excited either. These older guys almost never work out for us. I choose to look at it as Bruce and swarzak for Cano and the prospects for Edwin Diaz and that helps me digest it better.

I just don't like the thought of going all in for a 36 year old dude in the National League. If we were an AL team, cool, we stick him at DH or something when he's 38-39 and can't play the field. It just seems like this trade lacks foresight.

If the Wilpons were all in and wanted to compete here is what I would suggest.
Sign Miller for the pen. Sign Manny or as a plan b sign Harper. Sign for Ramos and till with him and Tda. We should be able to get a full year out of the 2 of them. Instead of trading for Kluber and destroying the farm sign keuchel.
The starting staff would be DeGrom, Keuchel, Thor, Wheeler and matz. I'll ride with that all day. The pen with Diaz, Miller, Lugo and Gsellmen is nice, and the upgraded offense with Manny, Cano and Ramos would ensure DeGrom wins more than 9 games.
All it'll take is money and you can always offload Frazer if you need a couple extra bucks.

I'm gonna stop by Mandalay Bay after work and see if I can talk some sense into these people. I also know a budtender at one of the dispensaries out here that is keeping a look out for Mets people.
