I feel like in threads every week whether it’s a potential new star signing, an nxt call up, a returning superstar, or an angle that has potential...a good portion of posters always gut their expectations with statements like

“Well Vince will find a way to ruin this”
“I don’t trust them to book (insert character) right”
“They are going to bury him/her when they get called up”

What’s he logic in still watching when you watch it with such low expectations

There's a Meltz in all of us:yeshrug:

It's no different from armchair sports analyzing in The Coli. Folks are so used to the same ole bullshyt and underachieving from the WWE, its becoming a running meme every week when they sign a different indy wrestler.

I'm waiting for that glorious day when Keith Lee gets signed, so we can play "guess the gimmick".

It's a great question, one I've asked myself many times over the years.

I basically stopped watching because I got bored, but I did watch for years before that with low expectations.

The best way to explain it would be to say that in my prime days as a fan, the truly great moments in pro wrestling, when they did happen, were probably more entertaining to me than anything in sports or other forms of entertainment. I was fully aware that I'd have to sit through months of shyt waiting for one of those great moments, but for years those waits were worth it to me. Eventually, though, the great moments didn't seem quite as great, and the wait times seemed to get longer and longer, and I moved on to other things.

I never come in here telling people to stop watching, though. I totally get why people watch it even though they think it's garbage 90% of the time. People get frustrated because they know how great it can be when it's at its best, even though they know full well that it rarely is.

For me, I've watched wrasslin since I was 2; so it's like being lifelong hardcore fan of a sports team. If you're lucky your team will go on a championship run, but most of the time will just be disappointments with some cool moments peppered in. :mjcry:

Max Landis said something along the lines of "most wrestling is terrible but when it's good, it's great". I actually agree with that, as depressed as the audience is we still get excited at the prospect of greatness. All we need is for two guys to stand in the ring and look each other in the eye and if they have enough heat the crowd goes wild just because they shared a ring. Like if Shinsuke rolled into the ring to face AJ and pointed at the Wrestlemania sign it wouldn't matter what all came before it, it was a great show.

I find this theory fascinating

It's like the whole "see you next Monday" shyt... because no matter how much people claim they don't like any of this shyt and everybody's gettin buried and the booking is so awful... if it was this bad, they'd have stopped watching. They'd tune out just like the people who actually have tuned out. Because the people who really tuned out didn't spend years complaining about Cena and Roman and HHH, they just stopped watching when they lost interest. There's people (not on TSC, but the internet in general) who've legit been complaining every week since Cena's first title run, and probably longer than that... and like the girl on FaceBook who's always posting memes about being treated like shyt and deserving better, they ain't about to do nothin' but keep complainin'.

This year, I only watched an NXT PPV (forgot which), WM, ER, TLC, and the Raw where Angle returned. Plus attended one AWE live show. I don't love wrestling like I used to. :mjcry: Still love TSC though.

I stopped watching, I actually watched survivor series though. I usually tune every couple of months for a segment or 2. I'll probably watch mania, and that's about it. There are so many better things to do

Thats because literally all of those things you mentioned actually happens on a consistent basis. There's literally proof to back up all those claims and the fans reluctance to put faith into anything new
