It's possible but what singers of today would be able to pull it off like they did?

talent is born every generation just has to be discovered, someone has to want to do it, it has to be goal, Berry Gordy gave the blueprint
guys like that get old and lose motivation or want to do other things.

it's a chance of a new exec to make a lot of money because that is a void that needs to be field, and its perfect timing for it

black men united gets its props but the soundtrack it was on is mad underrated in hip-hop circles.

jason's lyric is a top 10 soundtrack and has plenty of great rap cuts.

these rap forums never mention it.

this was right on time. perfect execution.

coincidentally, since the OP song is from jason's lyric, how about the songs from this soundtrack that got sharked.

ginuwine & timbaland ran with these joints a few years later. i made a thread about the jamecia jawn and alot of people got butt-hurt.

It's not impossible, ten years ago who would've taught gangsta rap would be irrelevant in the mainstream and the big rap acts would soft as cotton candy

10 years ago, the industry had already started pushing for the mainstream to be this way.

no surprise there.

the second video is just way too much Black excellence, I always watch everything twice, once for entertainment, and the second time for analysis. Pay attention to the audience and put yourself into their shoes witnessing the excellence of 40 extremely talented Black artists basically showing off just how good they are.

:banderas:

:ohlawd: @ the bolded.

this is why im addicted to forums. especially this one. its a safe-haven for sticklers & conisseurs.

people always give me flack for rewinding & replaying stuff like youtubes videos.

yea but they were blatantly positioning kanye to be the face of hip-hop before he even did anything. and by this time 10 years ago, they were acting as if "jesus walks" was some unheard of/groundbreaking single. they were trying to pass him off as an elite lyricist as well.

and you mention jeezy but the industry always threw shade on him. even to this day.

Kanye was Kanye, it was not the norm, trap music didn't even become dominate until 2006

in 2008 Kanye was making tracks like Put On, and and Go Hard , the game ain't start to get soft until 09-10

kanye was not kanye when they started gassin him. his album probably wasnt even finished when the media had already started pushing him to the moon. and there was a small backlash for it actually.

09-10 was when it got blatantly soft. but it started heading in that direction years beforehand.

and even the street rap that made it mainstream was getting softer and/or dumber. but thats for another thread.

all im saying is that the chit going on is no surprise. if u peeped game, you saw this coming a decade ago. there was alot of other funny chit going down back then. i knew hip-hop was on borrowed time.

09-10 was when the mission was complete but IT STARTED getting soft by the end of '03.

That's one song that's one Kanye

Jeezy hadn't even hit the street

Eminem was making corny songs before that, doesn't mean it was the norm

Kanye was the odd ball on Rocafella not the leader

that was kanye's general tone.

why do you keep bringing up jeezy? AGAIN, theyve thrown shade at jeezy throughout his whole career. at one point when he was like the hottest rapper, he couldnt even get a BET awards nomination.

eminem was in his own realm. you already know.

kanye wasnt the leader of rocafella but the uninformed listener seems to have had the impression that he was 2nd in line.
