Early White Rock and Roll artists started out paying homage to the blues and if it wasn’t for them a lot of those guys would’ve died nameless.

They never hid their influences and elevated those songs to a level the original artist never intended.

They wasn’t popular for the source material, they was popular because John Bonham is the greatest rock drummer of all time, Jimmy Page is top 3 lead rock guitarist all time, and Robert Plant is the rock star archetype.

You don't see nothing wrong with the fact that the black artists these plagiarists stole the copyright from died penniless and with zero acknowledgement or accolade.

These type of threads always bring out the usual suspects...like this fake "FBA" militant right here.

Where I shouldn't be
Yes and yes. Always wondered if the Black performers got publishing for all songs them yt teens stole in the US and UK? A Reddit I read said they were happy for the acknowledgement but I think that's bull£h!t and just usual can behaviour.

Including Elvis, Stones, Springfield, Beatles, Zepplin, Clapton etc.

Thread title doesn't make sense.
The Brit rock acts, and that group in particular have ALWAYS openly said that they play Blues music from the AA creators of the genre.

Here is a clip of Robert Plant at the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, MS

People will really believe any and everything on this forum.

He looks near death here. Do you have video of him confessing this at the height of his fame and before he got caught:mjlol:

Secondly, who gives a damm even if they admitted from the jump. Why the hell are you listed as the writer and not compensating the people you are stealing from:gucci:?

Why do a lot of people on this forum assume

1. If you post a thread it’s news to you (the OP)?

2. You’re not sharing the info to make it more common knowledge for those who may not know?

3. You get points for saying that you already knew something as if you were the only person the information was intended for?

If I operated under the assumption everyone here knows everything, what’s left to talk about?

:patrice:

Lowkey people in here seem like they running interference. Theres a million threads about Umars school, and Tariqs fund raising endeavors. But as soon as you make a thread about these white boys stealing its "this is nothing new,why you posting this?:mjpls:"

Theres plenty of people who have never heard this. Ive never had a convo about Led Zeppling in real life. Theyve literally never even come up in any musical convo im having. To think everyone knows about this is ridiculous. I have heard it before just because i post on thecoli and we are an informative group. But i honestly coudnt have rememberd the bands name if there was a quiz about it. I just remember hearing of a hugely popular white band that stole from black artist. Matter of fact this may not even be the group come to think of it

Led Zep didn't just steal from black artists. They stole from everyone. I used to love their music. It's really hard to listen to them now for me despite loving them. When I say "they didn't just steal from black artists" I'm not discounting that they stole from black people. It's just a way to say they were thieves in general and specifically. Even their most famous song, Stairway to the Heaven, got them in court for theft from a white artist.

I also want to be very clear. Almost all 60's and 70's rock bands attribute and credit their music to Black music influence. Many were out and loud and proud about it like The Beatles or Rolling Stones. Stones especially. But what makes Led Zep so egregious is that they didn't give credit. They acted like they were a totally original act and made entirely original music. This is what makes Led Zep so bad compared to everyone else.

Very well known, essentially all of the early rock and hard rock bands from the late 60s and 70s credit black American blues and soul as their main influence.

I don’t even know if you can call it thievery when it’s blatantly said

Yep and they didn’t even hide it. They were doing it on purpose and they always settled out of court because the artists they were taking from couldn’t afford a long drawn out lawsuit. Led Zeppelin had a whole process for stealing
Yep, totally fukked up to doing that. All those Blues musicians are/were responsible for the whole "British Invasion" in the 60s. Motown as well. Without that, there would be no "Rock N Roll" to speak of. It's crazy to think how much money was lost to all those old Blues guys who died broke after influencing so much. There could have been contributions to their families, etc.

That’s what a lot of the British Invasion was. White kids from the UK playing blues hits that Americans ignored. Lots of Black music got either stolen or copyrighted by cacs.

I just found out one of my favorite Beetles songs was ripped off of Chuck Berry (Come Together -> You can’t catch me)

I haven't looked it up for Zeppelin but the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Cream/Eric Clapton, and many other British rock bands openly discussed it in the 1960s and 1970s. They even took black blues artists on tour, helped get them record deals, etc. I'd also argue all of those bands, including Zeppelin, expanded beyond blues later in their careers so I can't say they stole "all" their music. There's no excusing the jacking that was done, no doubt.
