no, i'm black. he was white though. some italian dude that took his heritage too seriously. like, he use to try to spark up conversations about race and bullshyt (that was another thing, i think he was down-low racist as well) just so he could talk about what it's like being an italian and shyt. but one time i had a friend from college spend a week with me last year when i lived at that house. her father was italian and her mother was mexican so she could speak spanish, italian and english fluently. and for a guy that took so much pride in being italian and having that background, that dumb fukk couldn't even speak any when she got there. it was pathetic to see this guy toting around his culture, trying to pretend to be the definition of an italian american, then you have someone who can speak italian come into the house and you can't even have some basic conversation with her. that motherfukker use to front so hard like he was somebody but he wasn't anybody. he would think because i just moved to new orleans that i would "believe" his stories. he had problems for real...

i have to stop you right there. sorry you dont have a language of your own as you are american, maybe british whatever, but it isnt that easy to be able to speak your native language when youre not raised in the country. Growing up I used to be able to understand a lot more Akan than now. Enough to understand some of what grownups were saying during a convo. But as i continued growing up (born in Toronto) i became that much more assimilated and was surrounded by English. Combine that with the fact that my parents didnt speak too much of it and now I can barely understand any of it. Doesnt mean I wasnt raised to be a Ghanaian and dont identify with my counterparts. Dont be ignorant breh . Phoneme sensitivitty aint no joke

and, take into consideration, it's not even like his parents were from italy or something, they were born in america too. at best, his grandparents were from italy. that dumb fukker is just living in imagination land. and your point about not being able to speak your native language when you're not in your homeland, my friend (the girl that visited me) speaks both her mother and father's languages as well as english and she was born in america. its not like she was toting around how much she was half italian/half mexican...

i hear you. as for the language thing, it depends on the parents and upbringing. If you grew up and nobody spoke the language to you predominantly...you wont know how to speak it. If you grew up alone in a closet, you think youd magically learn how to speak english? shyt you could have a tape recorder saying english to you all day and still wouldnt know.
