Even if you live on-base, you still get paid. You're forgetting you have NO BILLS. Everything is paid for so every paycheck is totally yours to spend.

I bought cars and went to Las Vegas every weekend.

:win:

My bro (homie) told me he was pharmacy specialist gettin paid 6k a month
I only want 1 car & its only 10k on craigslist

Hollywood did a good job portraying what being in-combat in the Military is like, but did an absolutely SHYTTY job on displaying what it's like as a non-combatant which is like 95% of the military personnel.

It's just like a regular job Mon-Fri. There is no favoritism. You earn your pay and promotions by performing your job well.

PT (Physical Training) 3 x's/week, yearly marksmanship qualification, yearly Physical qualification (PFT = Physical Fitness Test), the odd uniform/quarters inspection, yearly MOS proficiency test.

If my mother hadn't gotten sick, I'd have stayed in for 20 years and be retired right now.................:sadbron:

Long-distance relationships seldom work and believe me when I tell you, there will be MAD females to help take your mind off her.

PT is like Gym class in high-school. We either did aerobics, played baseball/basketball/football, ran a couple miles, or something along those lines. Nothing like what you get in Basic/Boot Camp.

Mom is fine, now. That was back in '92.

I'm :old:, but not :flabbynsick:

At the end of the day, it's what YOU make of it. We can sit here and give you all the advice you want, but it's your decision on what you makie of it.

TRUTH!!! I didnt want to be the one to burst your bubble about this OP, but someone beat me to it. I've supervised about 8 guys with the "girlfriend back home" sadness. 6 of them got out in order to be back with them, and every single one of them have regretted it and are trying all they can to get accepted back or join another branch. the other 2 broke it off and couldnt be happier with the girls they've met. I was actually in the same situation before I got in, and my stepfather told me to break it off outright. He was retired army, and I'll never forget what he told me to this day: "Can your dikk handle the temptation of all the women from all over the world you are about to meet?"

It took me 4 seconds to answer that question and break it off :mjpls:

Don't even sweat the females that are in the service. There are some nice ones, but you'll find more just going out and having fun. I was stationed in California.

Those Mexican broads were NO joke........:wow:

20. I was an Army National Guardsman for 3 years prior to joining the Marine Corps.

Wanted to go RA (Regular Army), but I didn't have a Highschool Diploma. Just a GED.

I DESTROYED the ASVAB and got calls from the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the Army, but my mind was made-up.

Two weeks later, I was on Parris Island trying to stay alive.

Went from E-4 back down to E-1. Graduated Boot Camp with a meritorious promotion to E-2. Got another meritorious promotion after MOS School to E-3. Got my E-4 back in 18 months.

:manny:

Got two questions both related. How'd you start as an E4 and then how'd you drop down in rank?

I didn't start as an E-4. I was in the Army National Guard for 3 years and earned that Rank.

Army ranks aren't equivalent to USMC ranks and Army National Guard ranks even less so since we were 'Weekend Warriors'.

I had to go through Boot Camp even though I'd already been through Basic Training.

Drill Instructors tried to kill me...........:why:

Now i know they say tha military is no place 4 a black man especially a young black man & i always said i'd never go but im really considerin joinin now.

I live ina land of no opportunity & i wanna make a better person of myself plus i know if i do go i'll finally gain weight & ima have all that navy training.

Anybody here eva been?

I saw on military.com they hada do 400 pushups & situps ina day on top of pullups & a 1.5 mile run

I don't see the downside to joining. Passing the tests is easy enough for any able-bodied man and the benefits are exorbiant. The salary is good too. The Navy sounds like one of the safest units too as no nations fight using submarines anymore. It's just easy cake.
