The misconception here is that bjj guys like fighting off their backs. Any bjj guy who pulls guard in a street fight is foolish. The top is where it's at. A bjj guy on top of u raining down punches feels about as hopeless as being handcuffed and beaten by police.

You could do that but the cost might be astonomical. Find a school that offers both if you can. Even a school with good striking and non-elite grapplers is better then no grapplers, friend.vid was pretty cool....i wanna learn how to strike too though, so boxing and bjj?

Seems like you have trouble with dedication.
My training as far as combat arts is Muay Thai and Boxing. When I initially trained at the MMA gym I was at they had world class boxers teaching the boxing classes and Muay Thai champions and belt holders teaching Muay Thai. Nowadays I've seen a lot of gyms having your run of the mill MMA fighters teaching the boxing and Muay Thai classes and the technique tends to be terrible or very mediocre at best. Unless your MMA Gym has champions teaching their specialty chances are you'll end up a pretty good grappler but a terrible striker.

You could still find a middle ground and train with people actually compete or have competed at a high level. Learning from the bottom of the best or someone cosigned by a champion is still good training friend since most of us will never be champions or fight for a living.
