Stray Bullet is better than I Gave You Power

Eh, nah. "Stray Bullet" is a dope concept, but no one even talks about any more except to compare it to "I Gave You Power." Nas's story is better because his character has feelings, regrets, empathy, aspirations, etc. The bullets on "Stray Bullet" are sociopaths.

I love Nas but man, some dudes are such big stans that they can't accept that Cube might have had more impact on Hip Hop than him

Everyone has their opinion tho, even tho I love Nas I can't deny that he has a lot of weak albums but lots of good songs

The Cube disrespect in here is pretty wild though - it's possible to give Nas props without shytting on anyone else that is in conversation with him

Just speaking for myself, I don't take issue with the idea of Cube being on the Mount Rushmore. He's underrated if anything. I just don't think he deserves Nas's spot. If this poll was comparing him to Biggie then I would have picked Cube all day. But let's be real, there's a reason why these kind of threads always compare (insert rapper) to Nas, and not guys like Cube or Pharaoh Monche.

I just take more issue with the things like better albums, impact on culture, and better songs

While it's all opinion, people are acting like Cube can't be in the discussion because he isn't as intricate as Nas as a rapper

I do think Nas is the better rapper, but everything else is not as easily handed to him

I'd like to hear why people think albums like IWW, I Am, and Nastradamus are better than Death Certificate, Predator, and Lethal Injection

I can see why a lot of people would think Illmatic is a better record than Amerikkka's Most, but I can't say the same for the others

IWW is personally on the level of Lethal Injection for me, Predator & Death Certificate are better than any of IWW/I Am/Nastradamus

Then you also have to factor in Kill at Will, but I guess it really comes down to what you define as Nas' "prime"

IWW/Illmatic and DC/AMW are even to me--four of my favorite albums period. Lethal Injection/Predator and I Am/Godson are almost even (Cube was already showing signs of flab and those Nas albums had really high highs but also some lows), with Lethal Injection clearly being the weakest of the four, but I fukk with all of these albums. But after that, Lost Tapes, Stillmatic and even LIG are far and away better than Cube's other projects. Not to mention all the classic features and unreleased shyt Nas has released over the years. I'm not trying to shyt on Cube at all but the idea that Nas's catalog isn't strong couldn't be further from the truth.

I was with you till you said the underlined bro. Big would rap circles around Cube no question. Big was the most well rounded emcee to ever grace the mic with no flaws fam.

this is a hard pick, both are legends that made classics that i still listen to today. Nas more of a lyricist but Cube ain't no slouch when it come to that department. Cube got hood classics with slick storytelling and hilarious concepts.

Cube isn't even a top 5 rapper :camby:
who's wack ass alias are you :martin:
Maybe cause I don't really like Cubes music.
Umm that would sum up your bias opinion then...right :beli:
Illmatic is a cultural cornerstone. It's one of (if not the most) important albums in hip hop.
More important than SOC, It takes a Millions, Criminal Minded, etc....:dahell:
I'm a HUGE Nas fan but the bullshyt y'all be on when it comes to him is just :scust:

I think Nas is the better MC but Ice Cube touched on topics that were generally more accessible, understood by more people, and much more edgy. Nas was very much a New York-Centric artist in his own world. Where Ice Cube was writing songs like 'fukk The Police' 'Black Korea' 'Burn Hollywood Burn' titling his album ameriKKKaz most

If I had to choose, I would stick with Nas though. I am a Nas stan :yeshrug:

My problem with the Nas argument is that people try to say he innovated certain styles, flows, lyricism where to me he basically expanded on what Kool G. Rap had ALREADY done. Folks try to say he sounded like Rakim but he was a G. Rap clone with better poetics. Where they is NO precedence to what Cube was doing. You could argue Ice T but they sound NOTHING alike.
and he didn't lead the East Coast renaissance by himself :manny:
