Illmatic is generally looked upon as the greatest hip hop album of all time, and I don't argue with anybody who thinks it is, but I personally believe hip hop reached it's zenith with this album:

It's the same vice versa :myman:

I think Illmatic/The Infamous is the best but I could NEVER argue against OBC4L (tbh it ties with the other two albums as my favs of all time). That album is hardcore mafioso drug drealing rap at it's finest, not one weak track on that thing. The beats, the guest verses. :whew:

he beat that with IWW tho...

Lyrically you mean? He surely did. Cohesiveness though? I dunno...I skip some tracks on IWW, never did that will Illmatic. But I'll chalk it up to Illmatic only having what...10 tracks? So the margin of error is pretty small.

what records do you skip on IWW? Most will say Nas is coming. Nas actually spit his best verses on that album on that song.. but the chorus is just so wack... lol

I just like the overall sound of IWW slightly more than Illmatic

Never got the hate for Nas is Coming tbh...I actually like it. I skip Black Girl Lost sometimes, Watch Them Nikkas and sometimes Live Nikka Rap (Don't blame anyone for wanting to smack me for that, considering that a Prime Prodigy was also spitting on that track) but I dunno, wasn't feeling the beat that much.

My issues with IWW, whatever they may be, was always based some of the production. Have 0 complaints about the album lyrically, Nas and all the other features were on point.

Also doesn't help that I have a soft spot for the jazzy boom bap rap production, with pianos and horns and all that, hence why I fukked with Illmatic a lot more. But if you fukk with the overall sound of IWW I can't fault you for that. :myman:

Know what's weird though? When talking about the dopest tracks on IWW I almost NEVER see Suspect mentioned...lowkey it's one of the best tracks on there imo. I love the verse he spit in the end.

"Queens bridge don't make no herbs" :blessed:
