I used to bartend. That’s just the difference after taxes in what you under claimed. If she would have claimed 100% of tips her check would have likely been 0.00 and she would owe Sam some bread come tax time. Although you get paid less than minimum wage hourly, you go home with cash money every night. This person probably banked 3 g’s during those 2 weeks

This is exactly why this tipping shyt don't get done in most parts of the world, it's obscenely risky and non-sensical because most of the service you even enjoy comes from the cook making the food not the waiter, and also with how tips are so individual and volume based you're basically fukked if people don't show up enough or get stingy, we gotta do away with the low wage, possibly high tip model and just move to regular wages with optional tip.

The rest I agree with. But these server jobs need to be paid a standard wage too. Because truth be told, most servers come away making way more than they’d do if they had a standard wage. Especially if you’re at a decent restaurant. If the money was THAT bad nobody would do it.
