There were a few white dudes at my job who took their lives. One of them was a foreman..

Once I discussed this with one of my Hispanic buddies at work and his attitude about it was interesting..

He said that they made that choice to commit suicide and pretty much shrugged his shoulders..

I guess he had a valid point, but I think it is is tragic for someone who feel that low to take things to that level.

Goes to show that even those who are deemed privileged have deep seeded issues and feel that life is to hard to bear..
White dudes commit suicide for p*ssy ass reasons. Good thing he didn't have kids in the house at the time because he would have took them too.

If the divorce wasn't finalized yet, then...

She gets everything :francis:

depending on what the law is in the state, that's not even technically true. some states dont consider the spouse as the next of kin once you become separated even if the divorce isnt final.
but more importantly the OP gives clues like "divorced" as in past tense and "ex-wife" as in no longer married. plus i doubt a divorce attorney is going to waste time and money on shake down phone calls unless they have an divorce decree to back it up. that divorce is over b, she gets what the court ordered.
this is not even considering the fact that he may have had a will that overrides any default rules lol
:mjlol: yal just be saying anything

I think that they had kids, but I am not sure. But, regardless, I learned that white people go through issues like everyone else. Obviously, those dudes had some deep seeded mental and emotional issues, but were able to mask their issues while at work.

I think some Black people assume that white people are all happily enjoying their white privilege. But, many of them suffer in ways that some Black people may not know nor understand.

IMO, committing suicide is one of the most cowardly and selfish acts a person can do!! A lot of people will not be empathetic towards those who commit such an act.

I just know that those who take it to that level may be missed by their loved ones, but life will go on and they will eventually be forgotten, especially from those whom weren't close to them..

Black people go through way more shyt then them. We still have to navigate life every single day as a Black person. Whites can move anywhere and know that neighborhood will always be majority white if not 100% white already. School district will be top notch. Doctors always white. Work place always white. Won't have to worry about there kids getting shot by police. All these things run through a Black persons mind which adds unnecessary stress on us but we don't shoot everyone up and then ourselves because of it. There is a reason why they don't want to compete with us. It will expose that they ain't shyt competition wise.

I got in through my mother. She is in Local 63, Marine Clerks Union as a Supercargo/Yard Planner. Back then, she was a Class B Longshoreman when she gave me an application.

I was truly blessed. Since you know about my industry, then you know that I gotta job for life or until the ports go fully automated which is in the works now. I am hoping that we all get retrained to operate the automated machinery should we go fully automated, but it is up to the membership to maintain jurisdiction.

As for you getting in, I think your best bet is to know someone or have a relative that is in. Right now, they aren't taking any casual workers from the outside except from the list they generated a couple of years ago. It is a generational type gig. You gotta be there at the right time or else you will be passed out. There may be another way to get in, but I think that back door way is sewed up!

Honestly, I am not supposed to be saying this shyt on here, but I am relatively anonymous on here and I won't go into further detail, but yeah, nepotism is what got me in, like most people I know.
Appreciate the insight. Program mostly geared us in az area toward 3pl, freight brokerage, and warehouse/hub management gigs. I never even seen the Port out there or NY/Jersey, that would be cool as hell, massive.

I'd worked a job unloading trains in Phoenix when I was out of high school and they said the same thing about getting in Union Pacific RR (:russ: pipedream), and that was just to bring in and set the breaks for rail cars in our yard. Them dudes was getting paid tho.

Damn, i would have thought the unions was gone be the last line of defense against this automation shyt. Especially for trucks, but damn, guess you can't stop these companies from eventually deploying the latest technology.

I'm a [relatively] recent divorcee, so I'm not talking out of my ass. :stopitslime:

You've never heard someone say "I got divorced" and it's not finalized yet? It may or may not be past tense; he could have been going through the process (assuming the OP isn't telling :duck: about the whole thing.)

Also, the only thing we can go off of is the OP; we'd need more info on what stage of divorce that guy was in to know for sure.

Also, I'm assuming you're female (?), so there's also distinctions between men and women in divorce proceedings. In my state, women have more rights in a divorce. :kanyebp:

Yeah, technology is inevitable. What may work in my favor is that I work within an aging workforce, so a lot of people will either retire, die or both within the next ten years, so through attrition, I will move up in seniority and possibly transfer to one of the other locals.

For those with considerably less seniority, I don't know what their fate may be?? In the meantime, I am straight as an arrow with job security.

As for you, I say go after your dreams and maybe you can get into an industry or create a revenue stream where you can be secure while the world changes and advances because of the way things are going, we may be in for a really rude awakening!!

Appreciate the positive exchange, breh! Stay strong!

You will get any push back from me regarding who has it better or worse. It is a given, that Black people are at the bottom of the social and economic totem pole.

However, my point is that white people, like all other people, are immersed in their own worldly problems. I think part of living in a society were there is a dominant demographic is that they don't have to concern themselves about the welfare, safety and well being of others.

In essence, those dudes did not give a damn about what other people were/are going through and hey couldn't handle the shyt they went through, even if we think whatever that may have entailed was minuscule in comparison to less fortunate individuals.

In all, even so called privileged people have problems which is why they are going through a natural decline as well as why they are behaving in negatively pronounced ways towards others who are different than themselves...

You dudes still parrot this illogical social propaganda :mjlol:
Empathy isn't really humanity's strong suit so that isn't surprising.

since when do ex-wives count as next of kin lmao. answer: they dont. she only gets what the divorce court awarded

A lot of dudes get divorced and forget to change their life insurance policy over. I've seen it in the military where the dude dies and his current wife gets nothing while the ex gets the entire policy.
