I still fail to see what the point of the census is. I don't think I've ever filled one out in my life. Who does these anyways? Other than for public knowledge, what purpose does it have?
proper counting of populations
allocation of government resources
there's pros and cons: a con being the Government used the census to round up Japanese Americans for internment.
Arent y'all caribbean islanders???:patrice:
guyana actually doesn't even border the caribbean sea and while is in south america, shares a caribbean culture.

Really? There's not some super difference between Indians and Indians in Carribean. In Trinidad the Indians who come over from India like 5 years ago are indisguishable. Indians in the Carribean still practice Hinduism, for example.

The Guyanese Chronicle is not an authoritative authority on Carribean history. Far fewer Indians were brought to Guyana that is reported. And Indians were always paid for their work--they were white people's lackeys, same as now. I don't see as that makes Indians "indentured servants". False narrative.

Thanks for the positive rep but not all Guyanese are Indian descent, and my father isn't.

There's already a category for Indians from the Carribean. The category is as @Dip says: Asian Indian. That is Indo Carribean people's race. There is no need to add another category imho.
:dwillhuh: what do you think is the definition of indentured servants?

Here's a New York Times article speaking on the Indian vs Guyanaese difference

Indian, Twice Removed

Sudan/New Zealand.
Y’all got Asian Indian :camby:

Is this based on how society perceive you? or the country of your origin? Some people i know, it may be a little complicated, especially if they have phenotype that what the west do not consider "black" or what they consider "African" or if they are from the middle east mainly Arabian Peninsula countries(Saudis, Omanis, etc) it might be the reverse for a few people, because a few of them are dark mainly carmel complexion but with Arab features, and others look Sub saharan African. Many of them are students in UCLA so it won't affect them since they are not American citizens.

the census is based off what ever the us government wants it to be based on

for example, right now Arabs are counted in the "white" category and they include Somalia and Sudan in the white category

"White – A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa."

Going to be easier for them to reduce immigration levels to the country.

US pulls out of UN migrant and refugee pact

Black immigrants hit first/hardest and l see them checking the AA box out of fear.

Which keeps the resource allocation screwed up for AAframs anyway.

Reparations would also have every black immigrant under the sun running to AA no matter what categories are available.
