This is what happens when you stop calling people out for being anti-intellectual morons. It grows like a cancer.
And for real too. Not just Jon stewart style symbolic liberalism.

The issue with Trump supporters has never been about the economy.

If Trump wins white nationalism wins..
Partially true. There has been a donut hole in the country where bascially the coasts do well and the middle parts have been in a downwar spiral.
They really do sound like the people of Germany did 85 years ago with this protecting our jobs and making us strong talk
Yeah. But we could have avoided this.
The jobs they usually reference were leaving before clinton even became president. Those jobs aren't coming back. It's a pipe dream sold to them over and over again by both sides. If they don't want to work in the service industry they need to find a new skill. But that is harder to do than said.

I will say the one industry that NAFTA did end in the US was textiles. At the same time with the bad comes the good which is that a lot of products are cheaper because of trade deals. It allows me to buy that 5 pack of Hanes white tshirts for a few bucks

I'm actually looking forward to TPP because it actually will help my company :takedat: but that is just my selfishness talking.
At least you honest (even if joking lol)
The TPP has almost nothing to do with free trade. Second, being happy that people lose jobs just because you benefit is fukked up.
True.

:stopitslime: He wasn't joking. The only good thing about a Trump win will be the lie of America being a melting pot where people are treated equally and are accepting of dIversity will be finally put to death. MAYBE, THEN BLACK PEOPLE WILL REALIZE THAT WE ARE OUR ONLY ALLIES AND START WORKING TOGETHER. Because if Trump wins we won't have a choice .
Also true, but the industry nikkas (Not here) don't hear you though...

I'm trolling tongue in cheek. I'm not happy people lose their jobs. :stopitslime:

At the same time , I don't think people should have this expectation that their job will always be secure, especially as society changes. Globalization and freer trade with things like with NAFTA are expected as travel and movement of goods become easier.
Fair enough. But we need a better solution then sending everyone to college.
I almost :deadmanny:on the train when I heard her...
Haha

TPP is about corporatism and trade is only a SMALL fry in that agreement :francis: So, you support us losing sovereignty over states? If anything wrong goes those b*stards get to sue the states. What you said was really messed up :snoop:

I agree but even if they bring a lot of these jobs back somehow, I think these older white folks in particular (not forgetting or ignoring you had working class black people employed here too) are thinking about big Factory jobs where they're employing 30k people and employing the whole town. Funny enough on the way home I heard this story.

From 5 mins on he says exactly what I said, which is that politicians are overselling hope based on the past. A lot of these plants now have automated processes in place of what people used to do. So while they'll bring back jobs for some, not at the level as before.

Also there are still trades out there we will always need in the foreseeable future. Like hvac, bus drivers, firemen, etc. when you're poor and when even these opportunities in your immediate community are in short supply, that is a terrible position to be in and it's not easy just to dump your whole life and move.

So perhaps instead of catering to nostalgia, politicians need to focus on how to help people start moving into those types of roles if that is what they desire.

Can you explain? I'm having difficulties finding articles that explain this. Bc I realized that these majority of red states are trump supporters but still live like it's the 1950s and still adhere to beliefs from the 1900s.
