The jobs they usually reference were leaving before clinton even became president. Those jobs aren't coming back. It's a pipe dream sold to them over and over again by both sides. If they don't want to work in the service industry they need to find a new skill. But that is harder to do than said.

I will say the one industry that NAFTA did end in the US was textiles. At the same time with the bad comes the good which is that a lot of products are cheaper because of trade deals. It allows me to buy that 5 pack of Hanes white tshirts for a few bucks

I'm actually looking forward to TPP because it actually will help my company but that is just my selfishness talking.

At the same time , I don't think people should have this expectation that their job will always be secure, especially as society changes. Globalization and freer trade with things like with NAFTA are expected as travel and movement of goods become easier.

their svengalis need to figure out how to message this, otherwise people will be keep on shifting to the extremes if the middle is not providing solutions.
they have to turn service industry jobs into a respectable occupation the same way they flipped the manufacturing industry, essentially a working class job, into the middle class
of course raising wages was one aspect, the other, easy access to credit...and we all know how that turned out

Romney was actually a centre-right who could appeal to Independents and etc. Trump is different and appeals to the rural and country working class and rednecks. I'd take McCain (hate his warhawk foreign policy) over those two any day though.
