Each season, the NBA will have a moratorium period in which teams may hold negotiations but cannot sign contracts. It is during this time period that the NBA and NBPA conducts an audit that assists in the determination of the new Salary Cap figure for the following season which will be in effect on the date following the day the moratorium is lifted.

Giving teams and players time to meet while they work on the cap is my guess :manny:

I don't see while they couldn't settle the cap figures and finish the audits and then open FA :yeshrug:

D'Andre leaving for Dallas made no Gawd Damn sense :mindblown:

D'Andre entire offensive game is premised off dunks, alleys, and second chance points.

As much as you may not like "Chris Paul" how many players can really get you that many easy scoring chances so close to the rim

Dallas going to rely on Parsons to give him those opportunities :comeon:

The Clippers are perfect for Jordan's skill set. Glad he came to his senses

Big deal, in every other facet of business you know it's not official until you have the paperwork.

I thought Cuban was a master businessman. :francis:

You're missing the point then

Why even have a system that encourages handshake deals, instead of letting players sign when they're ready?

I don't understand why the league would "do something about this"

30 NBA teams...1 team had a problem...that is not really even a problem...just a guy changing his mind...
You going to change a rule because 1 out of 30 teams had a problem...

About 70 players have an agreement to sign a deal...
You going to change the rule because 1 of them "backed out" of a deal...

That would be bad for business...to change the rules you have because 1 out of 30 teams got screwed...or 1 out of 70 players backed out...

So what do you do when the next owner gets screwed by the next rule...you change that to?

Deandre Jordan's agent is a good personal friend of Mark Cuban by the way...

Deandre Jordan agent told Doc that the only way Deandre stays is if he trades Chris Paul by the way...

In the world of business that is seriously towing the line of collusion...

Also it seems to me that this type of stuff happens all the time in the nba and we as fans are only hearing about it because of twitter...

I haven't seen one current owner say anything...i haven't seen one current player take cuban side...haven't seen one current agent say anything...haven't seen one current GM say anything...haven't seen anyone who works in the nba league office say anything...

Only person saying something is Marc Stein...a reporter for ESPN who just happens to be close with the Mavs organization and Cuban...and Clyde Drexler...

Seems like everybody else knows that this comes with the territory...

They won't do much as far as the rule because it would mean teams can't go back on their word either & the owners don't want that

Teams would lose credibility if they pulled offers and would negatively affect them in free agency, and how many times has a team pulled an offer?

Deandre wont have any repercussions other than a few days of people maybe throwing some hate his way
