the only reason people are screaming for rule change is because it's an example of how much leverage a max player has. it makes owners uncomfortable to know that now instead of simply fellating this player for a 2 hour presentation, your going to have to eat your wheaties and keep it going until a contract is signed.

there's great expense in wooing players and it just got more expensive.

Big deal, in every other facet of business you know it's not official until you have the paperwork.

I thought Cuban was a master businessman. :francis:

verbal agreements are made in business all the time, and they damn sure are binding. Sports aren't the real world though.

Making verbal agreements during the moratorium is against nba rules too. According to league rules u can only discuss terms. My guess is that Jordan never really wanted to leave the clippers, the agent pushed him to Dallas and leaked a lot of bullshyt, and DeAndre realized it.

I have no problem with this but I want to see this board give the same backlash they give Lebron I could only imagine how angry people on here would be if LBJ did something like this.

Teams would lose credibility if they pulled offers and would negatively affect them in free agency, and how many times has a team pulled an offer?

Deandre wont have any repercussions other than a few days of people maybe throwing some hate his way
What team lost credibility after pulling an offer? How many times has a player reneged on a deal?

My suspicion is that behind the scenes this rule has prevented many more bad deals than it has caused. Once the hysteria dies down perspective will win out and if anything the rule will be enforced more strictly.

So you want even more meddling from the league? Nah, the Mavs shouldn't have set things in motion until that contract was signed. The moratorium needs to be lifted, but the whole Mavs and Deandre thing needs to be left alone

Things were only "set in motion" because of the Moratorium.

They made or didn't make moves because certain money was already tied up in Deandre.

What teams can do now I guess is agree with 20 different dudes and then just say fukk it.

Guys saying teams pull offers, I don't know how many teams pull offers that were already agreed to. Certain things set bad precedents.

I'm pro player 99% of the time, but shady shyt is shady shyt.

You can basically freeze a team completely out of FA.

Dudes shyt on Bron for holding a team hostage, this shyt is 10 times worse.

Exactly. Folks don't realize this shyt happens all the time in sports.

The league ain't gonna do shyt. Cause of two things.

- Cuban been a known pain in the ass for the league except in 2011 when he shut up during the Mavs title run.

- Clips owner bailed out the league and over paid for the team to make sure someone they wanted to own the team instead of another group (they might have not known or wanted to own the team).

So ummm fukk Cuban.
