We in a microwave society right now. People buy music the problem is it only marinate for a week or so then on to the next. If u give constructive criticism about an artist ur labeled a hater. If u say u like a album or u love this artists music ur a stan. There's no in between. People let wack as trends/average rappers (Drake/Wayne) flood this forum while everybody else who aint hot/salein gets pushed to the side. Besides Kendrick and some others. We dont have debates about hip-hop with excitement like we use to. Its too safe. Everybody's a dikk rider with no opinion or a dumb one with no logic. People on here hype up the weakest lines etc. I just lurk here and wait for some shyt to happen. There's no use arguing on here defending underground/indy artists who are more talented over mainstream ones etc. Who actually respect the craft. Its gets exhausting after awhile. Still feel like this is the best forum ever though.

why not use the upped feature as a way to write a review on/rate albums/mixtapes?

The OP should be a review and rating.

There should be moderators who specifically listen to and review mixtape and albums

That would definatly get a album more (or less) listens then simply upping it and letting the artists current popularity generate interest. It would also be a way for these moderators to stand out so we know who has a good ear and who doesnt..........and who deserves to be a moderator and who doesnt. I mean, theres no reason why you cant use this position as practice or as a way to get urself writing reviews/rating albums for a mainstream media source.

I'm diggin the ideas and it could work on some levels....problem is the knowledgeable cats hate a lot of this new shyt....and their taste won't reflect the thoughts of the average hiphop fan. Which as much as we can try to pretend we more hiphop than the next man. Overall the board reflects the average hiphop listener....only difference id say is the average fan is COMPLETLEY ignorant to the shyt they blindly hate on and dikk ride. And we at least have accurate knowledge to hate or dikkride...we at least got. The startup kits here,I don't know if uve tried talkin hiphop wit nikkas outside of the-coli for real but.....even dudes who claim to be hiphop heads and shyt don't seem to know the basics,I don't even claim to be that and have more expanded knowledge then them on shyt they like thanks to sohh/ the-coli

But good ideas,hope u got some wheels turnin....maybe we can get 3 different reviews from a stan,a hater and a nonbias individual with an approx word minimum,just to see all view points

It's getting better. The album money for wack rappers is getting smaller and smaller. Keef flopped. So did French. We havent been threatened with a new Puff Daddy album since Last Train. The industry couldn't force people to buy their music. Those kind of rappers will still be able to sell singles. We had one hit wonders in the 80's & 90's too.

This newer school of rappers, as much as I hate some of them, are turning things around. Kendrick, J Cole, Drake, Wale, Lupe, you don't have to like them, but they all sold records and made music that their fans think is authentic. Blogs and forums play a big part in that.

to the topics basically revovling around the latest info released by Mediafakeout, interview posted on forbezdvd.com (shot out to them) or wherever, popular artists twitter post, fukkery posted to worldstarhiphop or album sales........thats it.......no original convos

to the "moderators" only upping albums/mixtapes they think will get the most traffic or wack ones cause the person that made it posts on here.....

my problem is that everybody is constantly complaining about the state of the music inudstry but when it comes down to it they show that they not only dont do anything to change the current situation (not buying albums) but also that they would operate the machine no differently then the way its currently being done.

If you are a moderator moderating this particular forum you should be someone who listens to all music and has a good ear for it. You should be on par with the nikkas from back in the day source who were rating albums. You think them nikkas wanted to listen to all them wack albums they had to rate? Nah, but they did because they were willing to sift through the bullshyt to find the goodshyt.....and they had the ears to do it. If you are someone who doesnt even listen to all the music that is being released you shouldnt be moderating this forum.

There is alot of good music being released right now and if it dont get no shine anywhere, it should be getting it here........

but most of you nikkas is fakkits so the shyt dont even get love in this place. Its a fukking shame.
