Obama been a dikk.

He's not liked by most people who know him well.

Once his presidency ends, I expect a lot of books coming out of the administration highlighting this kinda stuff. There's already been a few.
You know some people who know him well? Tell me how you know that MOST people who know him well don't like him? I'll wait

Stop projecting your insecurities on El Presidente. It seems like someone told you the same thing as a kid and they were right... Now :umad:

Yeah I peep his demeanor from the start. He was just chilling dude didn't seem happy to meet the president. Leaning against the table slouching like he talking to his homeboy.

Agreed.. I know he's just a kid but that was a bad look for him. It's was real dissmisive and seemed like he didn't even wanna be there.

I agree with those who said he was just wasting space. Obama wasn't shytting on this kids dreams neither he was just being real with him.

Obama looked like he wanted to take Dijon out back and talk some sense into him. Wish he had a son, dude would be sharp as hell

For telling a kid, to focus on his grades and not basketball? You know how many black kids have that same mindstate? I'mma be a rapper or athlete, fukk school. Kid needed to hear that. fukk the "you can be anything you wanna be" talk.
My thing is...

How can anyone who was BLACK and became the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA tell anyone to keep THEIR dreams reasonable?

:whoa: so the kid not wanting a career in science at that age means that he's not grateful and that he was being dismissive/sarcastic? I just thought he was trying to look cool in front of a crowd, which a lot of 8th graders are always trying to do. He may have even been nervous to be in front of someone so important/who he sees on TV all the time. That doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate the opportunity to go to the White House and meet the president.

Kid is 8th grade. Do you know how much a kid's interests can change between 8th grade and 10th/11th? Basketball is what he's interested in now, but he may not end up in science or basketball. He might have an interesting teacher or life experience that completely changes his interests .I'm not mad at Obama for encouraging him to stay in school instead of focusing on basketball, but he didn't have to be a prick about it either; probably embarrassed the kid
fukk that kid.

What that little tyrant doesn't know is that all his competition in that room was raised from birth to take that sort of shyt seriously so that they don't have to rely on sports to make it ahead.

because at the end of the day, when the average baller retires at 30, they have nothing people respect...their MINDS. Outside of Magic Johnson, Jordan, and a handful of otherswho are these prominent ex-basketball players who have been esteemed members of society?

It's not about keeping your dreams reasonable. It's about having perspective. Going solely after a basketball career will leave you SOL in regards to a backup plan. The kid seemed like he had no interest in school or anything but basketball. If you striving to be president, if you fall short, you may be a mayor, councilman, senator, etc. If you you're striving to be a basketball player, if you fall short, you're working in a warehouse.

Go to the 18:40 mark brehs. Lil Dijon gave no fukks. :heh:

But Obama seemed kinda pissed off at him though

Yeah Cuz its dumb. U basically not only have to win the geneticnlottery but you have yo also develop the skills and then be lucky to not get injured while playing for the fukkboi NCAA til you can sign a rookie contract. Think of Derrick rose. If he had gotten injured 2 yes later. He would have earned prov 100m less

I don't see it like that. His point was simply that you have to face the reality that mos people don't make it to professional sports level, and have a backup plan. Parents been telling their kids that for decades, I don't see anything wrong with Obama saying it. Go to school, play ball, but don't put all your eggs in one basket...

Being an "esteemed" member of society is relative, and that's a definition everyone determines for themselves. But most former basketball players, professional or college, you don't hear about at all. You don't know if they're broke, or if they've found other careers, or if they used the college degrees they earned with a free scholarship to get work, or find other crafts. I've met some people who literally used their sports skills as a way to get into college and get a degree. Not all college sports are focused on the pros in the first place. We hear about athletes going broke, but that's because it's a better news story fueled by many people's idea that athletes are overpaid anyway.

I think that if there was more attention paid, we'd find more athletes who were successful after playing. Jalen Rose started a public enrollment charter high school. Mateen Cleaves does a lot of philanthropy in his home state, he's a sports commentator, and he helps manage Jon Connor. Maurice Ager makes music, had a song land on the Grammys shortlist a couple years ago. Jim Brown acted in films, and does a lot of activism work. Eddie George founded EDGE, a company of architects, development consultants, etc. These are just players either from my home state or who came up with a quick Google search. There are a lot of former athletes who are doing things that we just don't hear about
