Lol that’s a lot of people stories about the projects. They’re fun to hang out in until you’re old enough to get robbed.

That's a whole fact.

If you ain't know somebody in any projects downtown, you was most definitely getting jumped, robbed, and/or chased out the hood if you're fast enough.

But that didn't do you much good because there was like 5 different projects in that like 2 square mile radius that you would've had to run through.

Portsmouth too.

Like I told breh, our downtown ain't the traditional downtown.

Newport News is shaped like a cucumber and we cut it into sections.

So the bottom section of the cucumber, where the worst hoods are, is downtown or down the bottom.

Then once you cross like Mercury Blvd (going up Jefferson Ave.) all the way up to J. Clyde, that's midtown, everything past that is uptown or Denbigh.

Our downtown area where the couple high rises, court houses, jails and shyt is, we call that overtown.

I think they call it olde towne or some shyt...I used to go to roger brown’s ages ago...out there was ok...used to live in craddock...depressing as hell

Yeah, they're building that whole area up nicely.

Portsmouth stepping it up a little something.

I used to work at Craddock Middle School and John Tyler elementary back in the day so I'm very familiar with that area.

I still go out there and hit Mama Chan's or Country Favorites sometimes.

they had some really nice homes out in portsmouth...my aunt’s friends lived in a big ass house...very nice community...supposedly homes close to a million out there...but overall the town just had a drab feel to it...left 10+ years ago...had zero reasons to go back

*edit*

mama chan's sounds familiar...there was an asian buffet style place I used to eat @ in a little shopping center...idk if that was it tho

just googled it...nah I’m thinking of a different place out there

hey that’s the strip mall where lappers is but I don’t see lappers...they closed down?

I always loved P town for some strange reason.

Kinda reminded me of Badnewz.

It's different now since they tore down Ida Barber and J Dub but most of it is still hood as fukk.

Portsmouth got some good people though.

Real folks.

I’ve heard the comparisons to NN...that’s literally the only city in the 757 I’ve never lived/been to...yo did they close lappers? I looked up the chinese spot and I don’t see lappers anymore lol

*edit*

Add Academy Park, Twin Lakes, and Washington Park to the list of super-grimy P-town projects that got torn down.

You talking about dikkerson Courts and Harbor Homes.

They gone now, but it didn't get much grimier in the 80s/90s.

I'm from about 10 min from there, up the street, and even I didn't fukk around out there in my teen years.

My auntie used to have me out there all the time when I was a shorty though.

I think he’s talking about the one way # streets north of Jefferson. I used to get green out there in the 00s

Flippers was kinda dark and dingy but had a charm...we would shoot pool in there when they had the pool tables...Flippers was for hanging out...if you really wanted to play video games you went to Putt Putt two doors down...yeah used to be some bad shorties at Flippers....

then to be on some cool shyt Nikkas would go to Lynnhaven mall to meet and smash beach shorties....

navy nikkas from NY or other places would come through and try to high sign in Norfolk but always got they shyt rocked and humbled...all them nikkas used to shop at this store called Fine's in the mall...they got smashed quick outstepping they role n Norfolk....

We got the fried crabs at the seafood spot off at this old seafood joint call Blue Channel...only real Norfolk nikkas know that spot...its a throwback and been for hella years....
