While I won't go THAT far, I would trust any stage of Kobe in his career (even young airball Kobe) over Bron when the going gets tough.

Kobe averaged 29/6/6 that season. Barkley said his high scoring days were over then he proceeded to put up 14 30+ point games. Played stellar defense all through the playoffs as well.
Yeah, Finals Game 7 might have been a dud but up until then he had been averaging 30/7/4 on 43% on what was still one of if not the best defense in the league.
