You gotta love it. You'll be sitting hours upon hours in front of a computer looking at code, trying to make a computer think like a human. I'm selfing learning Front-Web Development (using Udemy,Udacity) and I'm on Javascript (not Java!).

I feel like my eyes are bleeding sometimes. But the endgame is to be able to work from anywhere in the world. You gotta have a goal that keeps you going because this is a different way of thinking. I suck at math. Like almost failed high school bad.

Surprisingly, a lot of it is Algebra and I'm going :ohhh: a lot because some of it is coming back to me. So don't think you need to be a math wiz or anything. But again, you have to want it.

Software, web dev, etc you have to stay on top of your knowledge base. Things can change next month and your back to learning something new again.

Yep, this post is accurate. To guys wanting to jump in, realize that software dev can pay a lot, but there's a reason. What's not factored into a lot of those figures is the amount of time outside of work you're going to have to spend studying up on different subjects. Experiment and make sure you enjoy this because things can change very quickly in this field and this is not the field where you can sit around and coast on knowledge you learned 5 or 10 years ago.

Also, be realistic with your expectations. While there are the occasional guys who leave those bootcamps making $120,000, you should expect something more along the lines of $60,000, which is still a solid amount. Those guys making $320,000 or whatever are elite coders, and the elite in any field are going to be making a ton of money. Those guys are paid so much because they are essentially creating the business infrastructure that can generate owners millions, if not billions.

Do you need to go to bootcamp or university? No, but you're going to need a very strong work ethic and be self motivated to put up projects of your own.I didn't go to bootcamp and my degree wasn't in computer science or a technology related subject, but I spent a whole lot of time going through books and working through projects.
So yes, the jobs are there for you, but you have to put in your work.

If you are getting into technology, it better involve software development, cloud or security. Typical IT stuff is going to get hit by automation(thanks to SAAS/arm making shyt more low maintenance)and call center stuff is getting outsourced to India.

If you getting into security, I highly recommend working the airforce. Not actually joining the military but they got hella security jobs that start off at 20$+ an hour where I live(with only 1-2 years of any IT experience required). I don't have my securtiy+ and don't feel like getting it so that shyt dead(to me). Y'all might like it though.
