:heh: I actually been listening to that podcast regularly the past couple of months just because of their Game of Thrones recaps...they've been geeked for Yeezus for weeks, saw the update and that they were talking about it this week and went :whoa: nope...I'll pass on this one...already know what to expect...that Pitchfork review more than exceeded my quota for geek cac gushing over that album for a lifetime...or two...i'm on a self-imposed blackout from the Yeezus hype orgy

It's kinda worth the listen though just to hear such a foreign perspective..

At one point they said Kanye created the concept of Drake with Heartbreaks and 808's and unless Drake totally scraps his current album and follows down this new path that Kanye created for hip hop with Yeezus he is headed back towards a path of irrelevance and obscurity..

You never know with these nikkas. IMO, people can listen to and comment on what they want, but you as an individual gotta be able to discern who has the kind of perspective on this shyt that you respect. Me not respecting what these yuppies have to say has nothing to do with them being white.

the funny thing about when people do this kinda stuff, is they truly have no idea that most these cats got more knowledge on the game than them..

@hexagram23 and @OnlyInCalifornia don't look like your "typical hip-hop fan", according to the-coli.. yet, them two know more about hip-hop than easily a good 80% of the folks who post on this board..

they like the music.. let em.. at least their using their platform to speak good about hip-hop, period..

14:30 mark or so "there's nothing skippable", "everything speaks to everything else and its all connected". i had to give up after that.

thats what i dont like about a lot of these reviews. dissecting literally everything to the point that the album is great because its such a statement rather than the music itself being brilliant. the musical flaws on the album arent really flaws, theyre a statement on the flaws within us all and how they can still be beautiful when layered on the backdrop of all human emotion. whatever

I just started playing the album before writing this. Like 40 seconds in, first impression reminds me of El-P. :yeshrug:

I didn't use the word "cac" and I wrestled over even putting the fact that they were white in the original post, because I didn't want the thread to turn into this..I shouldn't have even mentioned that.. Its my mistake...Their age and the fact that they come from elite backgrounds of academia is an overall larger point...

I'm aware that there are down azz white boys that have been important to the culture for years...I'm not placing them in the same group as Muggs, El-P and Alchemist..It's less about the fact that they're white and more about the fact that they aren't hip hop heads...

majority of people who post on this board aren't hip-hop heads..

you see that thread where folks were really questioning who A-Trak is.. :laff:

personally, if you like hip-hop.. that's cool.. nothing wrong with these cats liking a album, and expanding on it.. or, would yall rather them try to elaborate their points using slang..?

they aint trying to be something their not.. they seem to like the album.. do they say some off the wall shyt..? actually.. not really, especially if you read any of these Nas, Jay-Z or whoever else gets slobbered on here threads on this very site when they drop something..

as I said.. I think the most important factor everyones missing, is someone(no matter their color, education, etc) is actually using a platform that large to say something positive about hip-hop..

it is what it is, tho..

breh, I am white and I was just sitting there ashamed listening to this as they called laziness "pure bravery". Kanye just went on a bender for a minute and put out a weird drug induced album and white people are reading a deep mythos into it

THANK YOU

FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT

El-P was doin shyt like this in 1998

NO THANK YOU!!

I saw this coming from 808s and Heartbreaks. This doesn't surprise me. The homie El-P been on his futuristic with Cannibal Ox since The Cold Vein and again with I'll Sleep When Your Dead. Styles P Float is also comparable with the "futuristic, space sound". I dig the sound, trust me. nikkas just been sleeping, but how is even that new?

It's true, I am dressed like a hipster cac right now in my button up shirt and glasses sitting in my cushy office Downtown :whoo:

Love is love, regardless of skin color. While I realize it is black culture that doesn't keep me from appreciating the art and culture.
