I actually been listening to that podcast regularly the past couple of months just because of their Game of Thrones recaps...they've been geeked for Yeezus for weeks, saw the update and that they were talking about it this week and went
nope...I'll pass on this one...already know what to expect...that Pitchfork review more than exceeded my quota for geek cac gushing over that album for a lifetime...or two...i'm on a self-imposed blackout from the Yeezus hype orgy
You never know with these nikkas. IMO, people can listen to and comment on what they want, but you as an individual gotta be able to discern who has the kind of perspective on this shyt that you respect. Me not respecting what these yuppies have to say has nothing to do with them being white.
I just started playing the album before writing this. Like 40 seconds in, first impression reminds me of El-P.![]()
the funny thing about when people do this kinda stuff, is they truly have no idea that most these cats got more knowledge on the game than them..
@hexagram23 and @OnlyInCalifornia don't look like your "typical hip-hop fan", according to the-coli.. yet, them two know more about hip-hop than easily a good 80% of the folks who post on this board..
they like the music.. let em.. at least their using their platform to speak good about hip-hop, period..
I didn't use the word "cac" and I wrestled over even putting the fact that they were white in the original post, because I didn't want the thread to turn into this..I shouldn't have even mentioned that.. Its my mistake...Their age and the fact that they come from elite backgrounds of academia is an overall larger point...
I'm aware that there are down azz white boys that have been important to the culture for years...I'm not placing them in the same group as Muggs, El-P and Alchemist..It's less about the fact that they're white and more about the fact that they aren't hip hop heads...
THANK YOU
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT
El-P was doin shyt like this in 1998
