What lures people to these cities is more opportunities and better pay...

A job that pays 50k a year in some bum fukk fly over state pays 80k-100k in NY especially tech jobs...

That said what these people overlook is due to cost of living actually things even out and in the long term the former option is better...

$1200 a month in that bum fukk fly over state is a mortgage on a 3 bedroom house which $50k can pay off without living paycheck to paycheck...

In NY and SF you paying $1200 a month in rent to live in a fukking prison pod to avoid the paycheck to paycheck life...

$100k is average New York and Cali.

There's much better cities bang for buck wise. I hear about Chicago all the time for example. You can find 1 bedrooms for $1200 easy. Can't do that in the other aforementioned cities

Whoever told you that is lying and its lies like that which bring folk to these states...

The average New Yorker works 10+ hours a day...

If they're making 100k that's with OT and night time differential factored in...That is NOT a base salary...

And here's the kicker, they're working all these stupid hours and still living paycheck to paycheck paying rent...

I don't think it's that crazy. If you need privacy you just rent a hotel. If it's just you and this is cheaper than renting your own place then :yeshrug:

How much does it cost to rent a house in SF? 4 people paying 1200, but then again that means dealing with roommates and all that. Here if you want to move you just move to another one of their locations. If someone leaves it's not your problem.

Last between work, school, social life you're probably never home anyway.

Dude isn’t really wrong, but using an average income in this instance is misleading. Using median income is closer to reality.

What Is the Average Salary in New York City?
According to U.S. Census Bureau’s 2013-2017 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, the median individual income in New York City is $50,825. The median household income in New York City is $57,782. Household income in the U.S. Census data takes into account the income of everyone who lives inside a single housing unit. This includes anyone from individuals, groups of roommates and families. Note that this figure represents the gross amount, before taxesand other deductions.

Median household income represents the middle number in the list of all household incomes. Half of all earners make more than the median and half of all earners make below it. The mean New York City household income, which is calculated by adding all incomes and dividing that figure by the number of incomes you added up, is affected by the outlier salaries on either end of the spectrum. In New York City, the mean household income is $93,196. This figure takes into account everyone 16 and older with earnings.

Household income is the combined gross income of all people occupying the same housing unit who are 15 years of age or older...At least that's how that metric is broken down in NY...

Once again, for a single person in NY 100k is not a base salary, 60K is what I would say is base median 40 hour a week salary for a single person...

$100k breaks down to $5900 after taxes. That doesn't include Health Insurance, 401k savings, etc.
Nearly half that is going towards rent.

That's why I look at people that say places like New York and LA are the places to be like. :stopitslime:

I don't give a shyt about how do dope the nightlife is; however, aspects such as standard of living do matter to me.

Where I live, $1,200 is a mortgage on a decent 3 bedroom 1 bath home in a solid neighborhood, but in New York and Cali that's barely getting you a little small studio apartment.

I remember when my wife and I were looking at homes before we purchased the one we live in, a nice front and back yard, with a 2-3 car garage and at least 3-4 bedrooms were things we were not compromising on.

We ended up exceeding our expectations and even getting a house with a swimming pool. Same home we live in here would run 3-4 million in Cali for example.

I've seen the joints out there that go for like $500,000 and they look like the rent houses we we bought for about 40-50K here.
50k for a 3 bedroom??? What Backcountry swamp do you live in?
