Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
These things only exist because as awkward as this is the types of hipsters moving to these places like this type of living.

I randomly hit up my old co worker who lives with 3 roommates. She’s originally from Westchester and was raised in a big house.

She told me she likes coming home to people and likes sharing spaces with strangers who are clean and cool.

I told her I could never do it unless I’m living with close family.

Nah, that's just what greed and poor decision making will get you.

fukk I look like staying in an area where this is considered a good thing :mjtf:
Do you understand that most American cities run by Democrats are basically moving in this direction? Which pushes folks out of cities and then drives up prices of suburbs as well? think BIG PICTURE...

That's why I look at people that say places like New York and LA are the places to be like. :stopitslime:

I don't give a shyt about how do dope the nightlife is; however, aspects such as standard of living do matter to me.

Where I live, $1,200 is a mortgage on a decent 3 bedroom 1 bath home in a solid neighborhood, but in New York and Cali that's barely getting you a little small studio apartment.

I remember when my wife and I were looking at homes before we purchased the one we live in, a nice front and back yard, with a 2-3 car garage and at least 3-4 bedrooms were things we were not compromising on.

We ended up exceeding our expectations and even getting a house with a swimming pool. Same home we live in here would run 3-4 million in Cali for example.

I've seen the joints out there that go for like $500,000 and they look like the rent houses we we bought for about 40-50K here.

You aren’t saying nothing here. Tell us where you live and tell us about the job market, unemployment rate, poverty rate and wages etc.?

People acting like this type of living is new. Ever heard of the Industrial revolution or the African American Great Migration?

Obviously people back then could have lived prosperous on a farm but chose to live in crowded cities with subpar conditions.

Plain and simple wherever the jobs and the markets are people will flock to them even if they have to worsen their style of living.

This is nothing new and has been going on since the 1800s.

Whoever told you that is lying and its lies like that which bring folk to these states...

The average New Yorker works 10+ hours a day...

If they're making 100k that's with OT and night time differential factored in...That is NOT a base salary...

And here's the kicker, they're working all these stupid hours and still living paycheck to paycheck paying rent...

Not really a lie because NYC, DC, LA, and SF offer more six figure salaries than other cities.

And no you are also incorrect about “these lies bringing people” to Major cities because the average person knows how much money they are going to make in their career before they move to a major city.

That’s what job Interviews and the hiring process is for.

So you’re telling me Betty from Milwaukee wasn’t aware that her entry level Financial Analyst job was going to start her at 60K before she moved here?

Lol.

The goal of people like Betsy is start at 60K, climb the ladder and then reach a high 6 figure salary in a VP position.

Do any of you guys actually hang around professional people or just make things up?

Also when it comes to working long hours it depends on where you work. People who work for the government aren’t working 10+ hours a day and they have plenty of six figure salary positions also.

My friend from DC whose has a law related position with the city only works 35 hours a week.

With that being said there are many New Yorkers who also work for the government just like in Washington DC who do not work 10+ hours a day. It all comes down to where you work. Private vs Non-Profit vs Government.

No

What I'm telling you is that entry level financial analyst position will pay her more in NYC than in Milwaukee...

FA's in NYC make on average $15,000 more than FA's in Wisconsin

:unimpressed: yes, I understand perfectly, and your point is what exactly?

Since this doomed future is happening I should go ahead and buy my shoebox now?

No that's just dumb internet babble. There's no way in hell you can convince me that it's absolutely necessary to live like that if you have the means not to.

Dude isn’t really wrong, but using an average income in this instance is misleading. Using median income is closer to reality.

The Average Salary in New York City - SmartAsset

“While the average rent for available apartments in New York City is now over $3,000, the U.S. Census Bureau says renters in New York City were only paying a median of $1,125 in 2011. What gives?”

Despite high rents the alot of native New Yorkers pays little in rent. What people aren’t mentioning on these forums is that places like NYC and Cali have a shyt load of residents living under rent control apartments

DEAR NEW YORKERS: Here's Why Your Rent Is So Ridiculously High

I should know because my parents live in a rent control apartment and they pay $1400 in a well to do area for 3 bedroom, separate kitchen, large living room and a bathroom that has a seperate bath and shower.

Matter of fact my whole building is rent stabilized and there are people in there living in spacious apartments paying like $1,000 a month.
